Gumbo was mostly liquid. Tasted like Campbell's thick and chunky soup without many chunks or thickness.
Jambalaya was really dry, had a sweet flavor but not much Cajun spice I was expecting.
Most likely won't return.

If you like over priced, over seasoned, over fried Cajun food, this place is for you! If you're coming here for Kolaches, Coaches Kolaches are better! We weren't impressed with Cajun Belle's, even more so the 20 min wait for a small order.

We ordered the chicken/sausage gumbo and it was delicious. We also thought the kolaches (boudin and sausage/cheese.) owner is very personable and fun to chat with! We highly recommend and looking forward to trying other items!
On my wedding day I was headed to the venue and had a car issue so I pulled into a random parking lot and a nice gentlemen came over and asked if he could help. It was the owner of the restaurant. He was so polite and friendly and once he found out it was my wedding day he offered me a meal to take with me. The meal was incredible!!! The food was so delicious and would highly highly recommend. It’s very rare these days to find a human who is she selfless and willing to help other. So please support this restaurant!!
The shrimp poboy was excellent, the Bourdain was dry and tasteless. Your milage may vary. It is drive-through only.

I had the shrimp po-boy for lunch. The shrimp were a large. The poor boy was very tasty with a very good sauce. I lived in Louisiana and this is one of the better pool boys I've had in my life. The only thing I wish is they had an indoor service.

Best PoBoy I’ve ever had!! Shrimp and catfish both! Also, don’t sleep on those Cajun fries!! The owner is one of the nicest gentlemen I have ever met, definitely looking forward to going back!!
Food was ok definitely lacked the flavor of Cajun order shrimp basket both shrimp and fries had no seasoning. Also got the Chicken and sausage Gumbo. Chicken was shredded and had to dig around to find the two small bite sized pieces of sausage it was also very salty. Being said living in both Texas and Louisiana they mixed the mark of Cajun .

The food delicious! Absolutely one of the best Cajun places in Iowa. Great value for the amount of food you get. We got the catfish basket, jambalaya and gumbo. Well seasoned not too spicy but a nice kick to it. You won’t regret giving it a try.

After living in South Florida for many years, I discovered a little Southern food place in Des Moines. I tried the jambalaya and the catfish sandwich, both of which were delicious. I was surprised to find alligator nuggets on the menu, and that will be the next item I try.

Stopped out at Cajun Belle for the first time today. It was early and we got several savory breakfast kolaches and a couple of sweet (cherry and sweet cream). WHY DID WE WAIT THIS LONG TO TRY THIS PLACE? Owner kindly introduced himself and new chef while we ordered. Items were all under 5 bucks. You do have to use the drive thru if you stop by, but the food was worth the wait. If you’ve not been, give this place a go!
