Had the breakfast burrito was good but very messy! Looks nicer on the inside than outside.

Cozy Cafe is that rare place that leans into who they are, then delivers an authentic food experience. Old-school diner vibe, and they don't veer from their look. Located just off Highway 80, great stop if you're traveling through Des Moines and only 15 minutes from Ankeny's District! Booths, tables, and a counter. Ask about their Blue Plate Specials, as we loved ours! Our server (Abby) was great. Atmosphere and pricing were real good.
Parking: Located immediately off Highway 80, zero issues with parking.

Honestly a huge let down. It's got the perfect name for a cafe but other than that, it's just extremely mid. The tater tots were very crispy and the breakfast burrito was pretty bland. Nothing was disgusting, I just went in there with such high hopes based on the name and the way it looked on the outside and was pretty let down tbh.

A somewhat tired franchise place. Although the exterior and interior are showing obvious signs of wear and tear, it is obviously popular with the locals, bustling with couples and a large group on my visit.
The service was great, I was seated immediately by a hostess stationed at the door, and the waitstaff was quick and attentive. The food arrived quickly but was somewhat generic. It was somewhat lacking in flavor, and, although just fine, wasn't special in any way. There is a subtle difference between a breakfast cooked in a small independent diner and a business-like franchise kitchen. I found the Light Cozy Mess (their nomenclature for a skillet/scramble/shipwreck plate) adequate.
I would return if I were passing through the area and hungry for breakfast, but I wouldn't make any special plans to return.

The restaurant was rundown and unattractive. Food was fine, but it was just a bad experience due to the look and feel of the building. Very sad.

Always friendly staff and great food ?
My first time there. I ordered two things: Belgian waffle (on national Waffle Day) and hashbrowns. Funny thing is, the waffle was undercooked and the hashbrowns were overcooked! I guess it wasn't the cook's specialty.

Surprisingly, this place was not busy on a Friday night in August. The food was great, although hubby would have preferred meat to toppings in the big mess breakfast. I loved my blue cheese bacon cheeseburger. Mmmm wow!!
Wheelchair accessibility: Good handicapped access. Very smooth doorways, if you have someone to open doors for your wheels.

Food was great.
The temperature inside...too cold. Even some of the staff were wearing heavier clothing...we also saw a number of customers wearing jackets.
We'll try the place again though.
