That was some good food! On a whim decided to stop in, ask for carryout, and yes!

Had the catfish dinner w grilled veg and the shrimp po'boy with fries. The catfish breading, so so crunchy! Loved the sweet cold slaw as the bed for the shrimp on the po'boy, and the pickles were a nice add. A dash of hot sauce added, and yum!

Safely packed up in Styrofoam, food separated, tin-foiled as needed. It survived the 20 min drive home w/o getting soggy.

And it was GOOD!

Thank you for cooking this.

(Note for people in a rush: the owner runs the dining room as well as the kitchen. Be patient, and your taste buds will be rewarded!)

My family and I went to check Pop’s out for the first time this evening. I am ashamed it took us so long. Pops was friendly and quick to make us feel welcome. The children and I had chicken tenders, waffles, and the spinach. We loved it all and now my daughter is requesting Pop’s for her birthday dinner this year! He was a one man show tonight and balanced all of his tasks with ease and was so personable. Thank you for the wonderful meal, Pops!

Great place with owner doing it all. As we are vegan he made a special dish for us that was fantastic.

Highly recommend! Found this new restaurant via a Google search and thought we'd try it. The owner greeted us and took our order, in addition to making the food. While we didn't have any, free coffee is available as well as to-go cups.

I had the crispy chicken breast sandwich with fries and my husband had chicken tenders and waffles. Both were delicious and the portions large. The chicken was so good (moist and breading to die for) we ordered an 8 piece order of fried chicken and dirty rice to go that we could have for dinner. Each of our lunch meals were $9 before tax and gratituity.

Since everything was made to order, there is a little wait for your food but it's worth it. Carry out is available. Plenty of seating available. It's not fancy but is comfortable.

Don't know on the food, We arrived at 7:15 and was told he closes at 8 and he wasn't cooking anymore that night. NO - sorry, maybe see you next time, NO have a good night, No apologies. Maybe a bad night for him, but he needs to learn how to treat his paying customers. Not a positive recommendation for my friends and family. Good luck on your visit.

We were so impressed with this new restaurant in Lansing that we had to share.
It's called Pop's Main Thang Cafe located at 395 Main St in Lansing.
We had dinner there this evening and the food was delicious! I had the fried chicken dinner with homemade fries and Jeff the fried catfish dinner with sauteed spinach. It was so juicy, well seasoned and not greasy whatsoever.
We also shared a bowl of gumbo, the mac & cheese and okra.
The portions were very generous and we brought home lots of leftovers. Everything is made from scratch right when you order and Pop is a one man show. He takes your order, prepares your food, serves you and finds time to chat with you in between. Very impressive!
I'm attaching photos for all the foodies out there!

I hope you find time to visit Pop's establishment because it would be nice to keep restaurants open in our area.

Best regards,
Jeff and Maria

Went to Pop’s today for lunch on a recommendation from a friend. Not only was this the best chicken I’ve had in more than a decade, the owner ran across the street to grab milk for my son instead of simply saying he was out. Also, get the coleslaw.

Amazing food and even better service!
