Shep's Riverside Bar and Grill

Great bar and restaurant on the Lansing side of the river. Owner was bartending the day we were there and he was working hard at getting everyone served. Great views of the river and the bridge!

Fun place

Great place to sit on the river but need an outside bartender ! I was outside cleaning up tables of cans and plastic cups so the wind wouldn't put them in the river!

Flies. Hair in food. Service was slow enough we were looking for a pizza place on our phones when the guy finally showed up

Burger was charred and fries salted to death but service was nice although ignoring the fact my burger had two bites and 3/4 of fries either their used to people leaving the food or oblivious didn’t bother to start anything by calling it out

Island Burger 🍔 is excellent!
Wash it down with a Grain Belt while looking out over the river and you’ll be in a pretty good place.

They use beef tallow in their fryer. Many hand battered items. Great specials like the Friday fish for lunch.

I have been coming to Shep’s for many years and have never been left with anything but great service and food. I do not live super close by, but I absolutely go out of my way to head to this establishment when I can. I have gotten the chance to get to know many of the individuals at this place, and I appreciate all of the service and memories from here. The owner is a great individual who is awesome to talk to and fun to be around. Also, I love Dawn’s cooking and the awesome service she brings each time I’m here. If you are looking for a wonderful day, please take the time to check this establishment out. Upstairs is always a great time and the patio is so fun during the summer. Thank you to Shep’s Riverside for the great hospitality, great food, and great memories that I continue to have with each and every visit.

Went there oh sorry we are not serving food downstairs. Bartenders were very rude walk past us without saying anything. . Will not go back.

I have traveled the world
And this is the second time I stopped here giving the benefit of the doubt
1st hint, boneless on the menu on the big screen isn’t even spelled correctly. 2nd the woman at the bar serving ,only one working there? never said welcome, and walked right past us … 3rd went to use the rest room…. Hmmm
4th stood around as the same woman walked around us never acknowledging…
5th went up to the woman to ask if we should seat ourselves… could not have been less friendly. Told us to go downstairs … not giving directions on how to get there. I had to ask … 6th proceeded down
To a bartender not happy to see us and was told she was closing but would open back up
7th was told after ordering that the kitchen was closed … something about communication from upstairs … Now I’m a reasonable person but if the service isn’t friendly there is no service
I give this place a no star even negative stars if that helps you understand the atmosphere was as lousy as finding a pubic hair in my food!!!
Not worth your time
And too bad I’m the biggest tipper around.
