Tremont on Main Restaurants and Inn

Good food sorry they don't have home made desserts which was a little disappointing

Stayed here for a couple days on a business trip. Because of its close proximity to the location i would be going, it would be easy to walk too.

At 1st I was a bit underwhelmed since it reminded my of those old time hotels with decor and layout. But eventually I grew into it.

The only thing I wished is that breakfast could have been included as part of the stay.

No doors were open to get into the place. All were locked.

I only ate at the restaurant so that is my perspective.
The food was really good, and I enjoyed my steak. It was the 4 to 6 menu so the portions were smaller than expected but delicious 😋
It had a hidden restaurant type of feel coming in the back door. It was cool. I probably would not have more than one drink and try to walk down that pathway though. Overall, it was a lot of fun.

Had an amazing dinner Saturday night at Tremont. Would highly recommend the walleye, and the Lobster Bisque was amazing.

UPDATE: We have been back, and I am happy to say everything was amazing. My wife and I stopped in for supper, and we were very happy with our visit. The atmosphere is great and the service is still excellent. Our meal courses were exceptional from start to finish. We will be planning to visit on a more frequent basis in the future!

Very friendly staff, and the owners are such nice people, but I would like to have a meal that matches the atmosphere. Marshalltown is in dire need of an above par restaurant that serves amazing food, and I would love to be able to say that this is it.

My husband and I love boutique inns, and since our birthdays were on either side of our nieces wedding last weekend, we chose the Tremont.

The owners are very gracious, and very honest. The flight of stairs up to the rooms is steep, and I have knee issues, but there are handrails on both sides and since there were never crowds of people entering or leaving at the same time, it was fine.

The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The bathrooms are modern and they supply high quality, sustainable bath products. (We were upgraded to a king room, which was super sweet.) The bed was firmer than I’m used to, but the pillows were so great that I slept well every night.

We ate at Tremont on Main our first night, arriving just before they closed the kitchen. The food was fantastic and the service impeccable.

We had breakfast at the Tremont Grille most of the days we were in town. Super convenient to get my morning espresso fix and again, the staff was awesome. They even made us breakfast even though we arrived later than their typical hours.

Both restaurants feature jazz and Great American Songbook background music, which is very relaxing.

I’m a huge proponent of “think global, buy local” and was so happy to support a local business.

(Their overview mentions that they’re LGBTQ friendly, and even though we’re straight, we try to support inclusive businesses. )

My boyfriend and I were in the area for the Indycar race weekend in Newton. I’m glad I searched away from Newton and Des Moines! The Tremont Inn was a one-of-a-kind positive experience. The owner was very kind and welcoming. The room was very homey. Bed was comfortable, I slept like a log! I really enjoyed looking at the artwork in the hallways. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely book here again!
