Oh my goodness! I can't even tell you how good their ice cream was! We had never been there before, so my daughter and I got a flight (6 scoops in what looks like a cupcake holder) all 6 different flavors. *The lemon poppy seed tastes almost like biting into cold lemon poppy seed bread!! *The coffee and donut one tasted so good! If you don't like coffee you will not be as excited as we were. *The birthday cake one tasted like you were biting into cake batter. *The cookie dough was pretty good. *The blueberry cheesecake was really good, nice and flavorful. *The Heath and caramel was also very good! Some of my favorite things put together in ice cream.
Dietary restrictions: They had dairy-free options and had dishes that had gluten in them clearly marked.

Best ice cream ever! Easy on the wallet too. We've been to a lot of homemade ice cream places and my wife and I agree, this is the best we've had. Mitchell's in Cleveland, OH is a close secondThey even will give you 2 flavors for a single scoop!

Just had a raspberry shake. The first taste was underwhelming, so I tried it again....same result. Very thin consistency, even for a shake . The syrup flavoring must be hot, or the ice cream isn't very cold, either way, I was not impressed. Over-rated IMO. They should try 4 Queens in CF IA for a great shake that uses real fruit and not syrup.

Nice little Ice Cream shop on the Northern end of Downtown Mason City, IA. There are 2 entrances, one on 65 and one on the left side of the building. The staff were friendly. I got a Root Beer Shake (large size) which was 8.50 before sales tax (7%). The root beer used is A&W. The shake was incredible and very high quality for the price. I hope this place keeps getting more business in the future.-Shy_Gun670

I've been going here since I was a kid, growing up in Mason City. With a variety of ice cream/sherbet flavors to rival a famous chain, Birdsall's also offers many specialties such as seasonal ice cream flavors (peach, sweet corn) and little "pancakes" called Poffertjes. They make their own ice cream, and the scoops are very generous.
Fantastic peach ice cream, in mason city old home town brought back a lot of memories did work there years ago age 16 17 town alot different, but birdsall's still the best.

This family owned gem is a treat to the community. I was visiting the town. When I entered, I was greeted with smiles and a warm welcoming. It was nice to see how the business is flourishing. I decided on The Gary. Vanilla ice cream, carmel, cashews & ? (Haha) I had no clue to what the powdered flavor was, and they were kind to let me try. I was told it would be really good as a combination. Can I just say I should have ordered a larger size. The Gary came through as a delightful treat. Thanks for the smiles & kind service.

Had a girlfriend weekend so of course it included ice cream. Such a cute little spot. At the time we were the only ones there so got to visit with the owner and staff quite a bit. There was a flavor in honor of basketball's #1 girl, Caitlin Clark. I had already ordered my flavorful chocolate and peanut butter or I would have had the special CC flavor!! We stayed inside to eat and the atmosphere was definitely one to remember! We felt like we could have been in an episode of "Happy Days". Will be back!!
