Our waitress Kaitlyn was awesome! Very happy young lady! Backwoods was suggested by a guy we were talking to when we taking a road trip across the Lansing bridge one last time. I checked it the menu online and saw they have a couple of my normal yummies. as we walked in, we saw 2 guys just got their food- prime ribs. I asked them if they had that before, They said they have driven up there from the quad cities a couple of times for it, since it was so good! So, Terry and I decided to give it a try. Incredible! full soup and salad bar, potato of choice and the super thick steak with great seasonings. I highly recommend people to go there on a Saturday night for this great meal. (and ask for Kaitlyn) 😃 The inside of this place is also very nice.

Backwoods burger is prolly the best burger i’ve ever had . I use to get the single off the menu and thought it was a bit too much toast (texas) so added another patty and 🤤. Pickup order is always ready too on time!!! First time ever regular

Had a Patty Melt for dinner. It was average

The cheese curds were the best, also had the brisket and onion rings, both were delicious.

Good food, but service stunk! Ask simple question waitress was very rude! Won't go back. Would think in a tourist town they would expect questions. Never been so insulted for no reason. Wasn't even busy in the restaurant.

Amazing food staff and atmosphere. Love the nature of view. Saw an eagle and a great egret.

Salad bar was pretty much empty. The server was very pleasant. There was a problem with someone in our party's food. It was not handled by management very professionally. They argued. We did want anything for free or even a discount just wanted them aware of the problem.

My wife and I had the pulled pork. I would say that it was just average. Mine came with a 2 inch square piece of fat cap. That should not be there. The smoke was too much, it camouflaged the pork flavor.

It was great to finally be able to experience all of McGregor. The last couple of times weren't as great as this time due to a tornado and flooding but nobody in McGregor can control that. We love staying here because the rooms are rustic and comfortable and pretty much everything is within waking distance. We love to sit out on the balcony to relax after the drive to get there. It's super handy having a restaurant right down stairs.

Beautiful old restaurant in the heart of town, on the square. The food is good. The wait staff could have been more friendly. We had a good experience, and will definitely eat there again.

When you walk into this old-time saloon feeling restaurant & bar, you won't be disappointed in the food, service or prices. It is one of our favorite places to dine when in the area. Good food, nice portions, great salad bar, friendly service and reasonable prices.

I suggest better wait staff Our waiter told us not to get broiled fish which we wanted The fried fish was all breading The salad bar was almost empty We waited a very long time for the waiter to come back to our table to order more fish We wanted more napkins and water I dont suggest this for a fish fry

I had the smoked brisket sandwich and it was amazing. Maybe the best brisket I’ve had. Great service, charming location….highly recommend.
