“We heard they make the best pizza in town. We stopped in for the first time and ordered our go-to pizza. Thin crust sausage, onion, and green olive. Was delicious and definitely recommend trying this place out for a great pizza. ?”
“In town to see the Hole in the Sock Gang, we stopped for food. The owner was very friendly. The main street is being redone, and it is affecting all the businesses. Try to support them.”
“As soon as you walk in the door you are one of the regulars and the owner Bart adopt you into his family. Great place to stop for a quick refresher or catch the game. Go Hawks!!”
“1st time visit here. We tried Lunch and dinner. Brisket sandwich, burger, nacho plater, all very good for lunch!!!! Fries and ketchup could be much better. Server was awesome. Dinner we had boasted chicken and fried shrimp. Once again all very good except for the sides. Fries still could be better, slaw ok, no baked potato or side salads. Overall a very good and cool place! Server makes the best bloody mary and pickles I've ever had!”
“We recently celebrated my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary with an open house happy hour at Old Man River. The owners so easy and accommodating to work with while preparing and were very responsive as we planned from out of tow . The appetizers, service, and drinks were FANTASTIC and our entire group had a great time. If you’re ever in McGregor put this on your MUST VISIT list.”
“I've ordered food to go from here twice. Pizza is great. They don't skimp on the toppings and make their own sauce. Stix are flavorful. Burgers are excellent, they have a toppings bar inside with lettuce, tomatoe, pickles, onion, etc ... I think the pickles might be homemade. Very good. They also have a large variety of sauces and dips available.”
“I always love coming here when I am heading out of town. It is the perfect stop for my little road trip. The iced caramel macchiato is perfection and the women working are always so nice.”
“Excellent everything. From the cupcakes to the drinks, the cleanliness of the place. The staff is awesome, so friendly, attentive, and personable. Can't go wrong here.”
“So cool!!! Awesome food awesome bartender, Erin, and I got to meet the Mayor and High School Principal in town. I felt like I was in a scene from Twin Peaks. I can’t say enough about the atmosphere and crowd. An ethnographic portal into small town America. Absolutely awesome and way worth the stop on boat, foot, or car.Edit 3/23/24 - BE CAREFUL OF “TOWNIES”!!! While 99% of this town of 42 people is awesome, the other 1% are complete belligerent IDIOTS that drink way way way too much and whose wives apologize for their husband’s idiocy. I learned the hard way tonight with a Clayton resident that I am far from welcome by all in this town……”
“Best place to get Chinese food in the PDC area. Extremely quick and friendly service despite how busy they are. Huge portions and delicious food. The seating area is nothing fancy for dining in, but the food and service definitely make it a place to stop. We also enjoy using the take out option also.”
“It's been years since I last passed through Prairie du Chien and I hoped the Simple was still in business and serving good food in a lively atmosphere.Well, they are.”
“This is the place. This is the place you go for good company and good music and good times. Thursday night is their open mic night, and you don’t have a song prepared you may be in danger. The folks here have a tendency to buy you shots and make you sing. If you don’t like fun, don’t go here.Oh and cheap drinks.”
“Came back here for supper tonight and brought my nephew along. Food was great as always and were fortunate enough to have a train and a barge go by while we were eating.”
“I'm a pilot... Flew in from Des Moines, Iowa on a fun cross country and stopped for some food. We pulled up 30 minutes before close and the staff was friendly. Food came quick and was hot. Tasted good and well priced. Will fly back again!”
“Such a great pizza place! Server was very busy with a large order this past weekend when we there and he was running the place alone for a bit being a server/pizza chef/bartender all in one! He was still super friendly while being on the move! Would definitely come back and recommend!”
“Nice down home place in downtown Prairie du Chien, WI. Love you can get bluegills on the menu. Check out the bar on the other side of the dining area, it’s a great place for a pre or post dinner drink!”
“LoveGoing to Fraziers but after having 2 beers was chased down after we got to our truck and asked why we didn’t leave a tip. We normally tip generously but just slipped our minds. This is not something we appreciated. Not sure we will return.”
“We are in town for our 25th wedding anniversary and noticed this place down by the river after dinner in town. Very cool place with a lot of history. Wish I'd known it was there sooner because we would have had dinner there. The lady served us( who also the owner) was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the place and surrounding buildings. Definitely worth the stop, will be back! Also prices are very reasonable especially for these times.”
“Great food Great service Great staff live music got to meet some new friends the bartender was Kevin really good guy it is like cheers everyone knows you name the live music was good”
“Had rolled icecream and sodas while playing jenga! Great spot for a date night or even to take the kids. Had games to play while eating and even a small table for children.”
“Always available for a good time dive bar awesome Pizzas awesome customers. Owner involved with making business best for customers. Not a corporate deal. Last of a dying breed!”
“I haven't been to a Hardee's for a while, but the food was the same as I remembered it. The only difference was the price. I know everything is going up, but $15 for a meal for just myself and I only got a medium drink and fries. I would rather fix a burger at home for that price!”
“The ribs are to die for and stating at the hotel is an experience that everyone should try. We've stayed here at least 1/2 dozen times and we'll continue to come back for the great hospitality and food.”
“The food and drinks here were phenomenal! The men got steaks, which they both said were amazing. I got the seafood pasta, and can truly say that it was the best seafood I've ever had. The noodles were a bit overcooked, but it was still really good. My mother in law got chicken Parm which she said was good as well, same comment about the noodles being overcooked. All in all, it was a great night and a good experience!”
“Very friendly local bar. Great place to catch sports on TV, especially Wisconsin college and pro teams. Drink specials during games, prices are very reasonable all the time. Frozen pizzas and chips are available for purchase. Plenty of gambling machines available. Highly recommended!”
“This is the most delightful small town bar in really incredibly beautiful scenery. The owner, also tending, wasn't irritated in the slightest by all my questions about the really great collection of trinkets he has obviously collected through his own travels. At some point another guy came and helped turn out some food (also ate here, the homemade fries are truly made with love) and we chatted for a minute as well. All in all I highly recommend taking a beverage and or food break here if you are out on a ride or a leisurely drive... Or better yet just plan a day drive around stopping here. The mask and Pearl (the fish) stood out to me, the rest you will have to come and experience yourself.”
“I would go to this place again! If you are looking to watch a sports game, or just have a good time this is the place for you! The owner is down to earth, which is a great quality for this type of business!”
“Great service. Seriously no complaints whatsoever about the staff. It’s the Midwest after all. The food and the prices for the quality of what you get it my big issue. Hard and cold fries, I’m sure I could have asked for some new ones, but they were just Ortega waffle fries so it wouldn’t have done any good. The burger was ok. The blue cheese burger needs some kind of binding sauce. The bun was chewy. Drinks were cheap, but we didn’t know until the bill came since the prices aren’t on the menu.”
“Passing through town and found this stand. Oldest hamburger stand in Wisconsin. I read somewhere that the family opened it in 1909. These mini boiled burgers come one of two ways - with or without onions. The beef is boiled with tons of onions on the side which give the burgers their rich flavor. The only toppings are ketchup and yellow or brown mustard. Keeping it simple and flavorful. A definite stop when in town.”
“My favorite breakfast spot in the area. The quality of the breakfast food is unrivaled. Highly recommend. Friendly staffWheelchair accessibility: The have a ramp and very kind and understanding of circumstances”
