All the food was good. Two had an omelette, husband had “the Dan” which was hash browns with gravy and eggs on top with toast. I had the treasure chest. Hash browns piled up with cheese, biscuits, gravy sausage and eggs. The gravy was really good. Our waitress wasn’t that great but they were very busy for such a small cafe so I let it slide.
Note: we came here for a late-ish lunch on a Saturday and were a bit surprised to find McGregor not awash with tourists. I can't say whether this review would have been affected had things been busier.Came here as we didn't have easy access to our planned lunch spot in Guttenberg (car show on the main drag clogged things up). Parking wasn't an issue, but I can see how on a busier weekend it would be. We called ahead to find out if dogs are allowed on the patio, and they are - was never a problem, and our server even brought out a nice strip of bacon from the kitchen for the pup.Even though we were aware that they were understaffed, we were seated quickly and service was prompt and polite throughout. Our server was actually the dishwasher, but did a marvelous job nonetheless. Folks at the counter inside were equally courteous and pleasant. The place even arranged superlative weather for us. :)Simple beverages were better than your average expectation, but it was the sandwiches that really shone. The mushroom and swiss burger was some serious beef and well-seasoned; the turkey cranberry sandwich came on a wild rice bread that was perfectly toasted, and was - hand to God - the best sandwich I've had in years. They don't skimp on quality and the portion size was perfect. Kettle chips and a few pickle slices were a nice accompaniment.Bathroom was clean and delightfully kitschy. We both agreed we lucked out in our choice that afternoon. We will be back!
Sat outside on a beautiful day. Very good service and darn good chicken sandwich.
In light of current health concerns, we are inclined to either order carry out or sit outside. Since the early leaf-peeper season had beautiful weather, we decided outside would be the thing this trip. Parking in downtown McGregor can be a bit of a challenge, but we found a spot. We sat right by the door outside, in the shade, next to lovely flowers that hummingbirds visited while we were there. The later lunch crowd had the seats about half occupied, but service was efficient and friendly. We had already seen the menu on line, but took a moment to confirm. Hubby had the Bourbon Burger and I the Turkey Cranberry sandwich. We were both very pleased with the flavors and serving size of each. This place is cute, a little kitchy, and very colorful and friendly. It also appears dog-friendly outside. This is another place on our "we need to go back there again" list!
Stoped in on a rainy day to have some coffee and low and behold they had danish. Well I just had to have some. Coffee was pretty darn good and danish was perfect. Great service too. Nice place to stop in.
I expect breakfast menus in small towns to be basic (call me closed minded). This one was not--it was innovative, with fresh fruit and veggies. I was pleasantly surprised!
Great lunch - great service - great atmosphere. Very cute cafe with good food. Got a seasonal salad on the today's specials list. Would definitely stop by again if in the area!
Great breakfast place and love the atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the long wait for your food when they r busy. But it's all homemade so worth it
First time eating here and last time also. The ederly waitress had no clue what was going on and was all over the place!! I was given creamer and it was 3weeks over the expiration date and sour as hell. Girlfriend ordered an ice Carmel latte and was brought a regular latte steaming hot and charged for it. Worst first time experience I've ever had.
Very good food, but small portions

The most adorable place. Great atmosphere and antiques collections. The owner is sweet as can be and the food is cheap and perfectly made. If you stay in the area or just drive through I highly recommend a stop!
Everything a Cafe should be from bright colors and tasteful decor for all tastes to excellent coffee, great food and friendly staff that solidified our desire to come back when we're in the area again!!!
Quaint, kitschy cafe in the heart of historic downtown McGregor! We went for breakfast and found the staff to be gracious and accommodating. It took a little long to get our food, but it’s made from scratch so it’s to be expected. I had the smoked salmon omelette and it was amazing! A ton of food and well presented. My husband said even the hash browns were freshly shredded...great addition to our meal! Plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer that too. Conveniently located; definitely recommended!
Love the place and Annie an Brenda are amazing.
Good food, generous portions, reasonble prices.
