Pretty standard fare and a great small town feel. Service was a little slow for how empty the place was, but the waitress was nice. Our food was okay, and I would stick to the fried foods for your best experience. Our fries were all good, as were the shoestring onion rings. My chicken bacon ranch wrap was NOT good though, lacking flavor with an off-putting texture to the chicken and the tortilla was poorly wrapped and was falling apart. Overall, it's a small town divey feel so keep that in mind and you should be able to find something to please you.

First time ordering from Tavern 36. I got a pulled pork sandwich with lots of meat and just the right amount of bbq sauce. Very tasty! Hubby had Italian sausage sandwich- very good! Big portions. Yummy brownie too! Definitely the place to go for good food in Mitchellville!

The owners will discriminate against you on your own views if yours don't line up with theirs. And that alone tells me everything I need to know about them as people. If I could give -5 starts I would. Food isn't the best either.

Good wait staff with good food, beer, and distilled beverage options.

don't recommend. the burgers are frozen and not handmade. no flavor. no salt or pepper other. no variation in the size of the burgers either. half pound option only. the bloody mary mix had no condiments. no pickles or olives or anything. food took forever to get. the fastest part of the meal was when the check came. the fried mushrooms were greasy too. once our food came we ordered a to go for our son at home and it was 45 minutes and we still didn't get his food. we finally asked for our money back and left. 45 minutes and the burger wasn't even started.

Tavern 36 is a must stop for small town tavern. We stopped to pick up a togo order on March 13th at 1230pm. We ordered smothered fries for the kiddos and they don't disappoint. It was a healthy serving of fries and BBQ meat. I highly recommend this eatery. It was worth a drive from Altoona. It was a little awkward stopping in, all the patrons we're staring at us when we entered. There was a nice gentleman and two beautiful ladies sitting at the bar enjoying their afternoon. There was a group of grandmas and grandpas enjoying their lunch at the far table. The atmosphere was nice. There were ample seating for guests. I definitely recommend this eatery and recommend the smothered fries..be warned..it's a huge helping. Bring a friend or two. They will not be disappointed. Tell them Mr. Triple Bogeys recommended this eatery.

New ownership and more food selections. Did some minor changes to the interior and still a very friendly place to go eat and meet up with friends and family.

I don't know why I wouldn't give this place 5 stars. The food was delicious (had a two handed taco for lunch, which was a beef taco on a flat fried taco shell) and the service was awesome (fast and friendly). It was a late lunch, so only a dozen people inside, but a nice local bar and somewhere I could see myself frequenting if I lived nearby. I'm glad I came off of I-80 for the small town Mitchellville experience. No need to eat at a chain when places like this are around!
