After seeing positive reviews we ordered the strawberry French toast, Texas Benedict and veggie skillet. We were offended by a $1.99 up charge to sub fries for potatoes for a vegetarian guest on the Veggie Skillet, as the potatoes it came with are cooked in bacon and there were limited savory options for a vegetarian. The carnitas on the Texas Benedict tasted like mushy pulled pork and the green Chile holandaise did not taste like green Chile (rather a plain holandaise). The strawberry French toast came out lukewarm. The veggie skillet was a soggy mush of red onion, tomatoe and a scattering of a few mushrooms and a few pepper pieces. The spinach tasted frozen not fresh. The saving grace was well cooked over easy eggs. The waitress brought us a green Chile sauce for the Benedict which was tasty. Service was good, the waitress was kind and patient.

We visited the Phoenix area to attend the Senior Men’s Baseball World Series and on the way to a morning game - we found this place. It’s in a strip mall area south of the 202 on Dobson - easy to miss, but don’t ! It was a little later in the AM so it wasn’t’t too busy - we were seated right away. They have a nice collection of the usual breakfast items. We had French Toast and a Classic Breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast). The food was great and plenty of it ! Looking around the room - lots of locals - makes sense as it’s kinda hidden in this strip mall. The only thing keeping the Henhouse from the big 5 rating was the slow service. The server apologized several times along with someone who appeared to be a manager. Seems like they were short handed. This is still a great place for breakfast and hopefully the speed of getting that breakfast will be better next time !

Tried stopping on the way thru town and they were closed. I called the number listed on the website and the owner Lisa not only answered but came and opened the shop for me. Beautiful store with amazing merchandise at fair prices. If you like vintage MCM this is the place for you. Thanks again Allan

Decided to give it a try for Breakfast before we went to Bass Pro Shop. My husband had the simple eggs and potatoes , my daughter had the pumpkin pancake, and I had Benedict Florentine, all were delicious. I knocked it down a star because the only sweetener they had for coffee was either sugar or sweet-n-low, which is a major turn off for me. No Equal, Spenda or Stevia.

I called about how much watch the ice and got a voice-mail so I left a message and it said to text her. So I did never heard from her. No phone call or text back.

Grossed out by the Hyatt Place kitchen disgusting cleaning practices we went over to this place and had a very good breakfast with plenty to eat and endless coffee.

Stopped by this cute little cafe because it was near our hotel. Glad we did. Large menu, reasonable prices, nice portions and food good and ambience.

Very good experience. Went with my sis and we split a big omelette & the cinnamon French toast-both excellent. Serviced was cheery and good! The only negative is it was a bit noisy but would go back and refer to friends!

Restaurant is nicely decorated. Waiter was quite inattentive. Restaurant acoustics were so terrible that we nearly had to shout to hear each other talk. Breakfast for 2 took 55 minutes to arrive. Both servings were cold and potatoes were undercooked. Food was returned for a do-over; came back warm but eggs were runny. Waiter checked to see if this round was better. I told him not to bother with replacing. He brought two more more thoroughly cooked, but I was finished eating by then. Probably will never return.

Have been there in the past was always wonderful. Living out of area . Went there was treated so poorly by waitress I turned and walked away. Contacted management , They watched the video and agreed it was not the way anyone should be treated . Offered a free meal I declined. Went there for breakfast server was very nice food was terrible could not finish. Breakfast was $35.00 for two people . Should have been good for that money. It use to be. Guess it was my fault for going back. Never again .

We first heard of Henhouse from a friend and have had it on our list for a while. Since they close at 2PM you have a bit less time to work with but it’s worth planning into your morning. The restaurant is easy to miss since it blends in with the businesses at Mesa Riverview but because of this we think it actually keeps it from getting too crowded like other breakfast spots. Since we went on a Saturday around noon we expected to maybe have a bit of a wait but we were glad that we were seated right away. We saw that some people had complained about that and were complaining when we arrived but honestly if you’re coming to a breakfast place on the weekend no matter where it is you can’t expect not to wait since everyone has the same idea! They have both a main dining room as well as a small outdoor patio that is also dog-friendly and had a live musician playing when we arrived. They had a good amount of drink selections which is good to know for those who enjoy some mimosas for weekend brunch. We started off with a Wow-Mosa (Four Peaks WOW beer mimosa) and a Pineapple Orange Strawberry Mimosa. The beer mimosa was something different but still tasted like a regular mimosa. Next time around we would like to try something different since both drinks were like things we could get elsewhere. For food we knew the pancakes were good but we were looking for something more hearty since we were there after a hard workout. We decided on the Santa Fe Omelette and the Henhouse Chicken Sandwich. Of the two, the Henhouse is worth getting since it’s unique to this restaurant and was honestly really good with great flavor in the chicken and worth the money. Considering we arrived near closing time we didn’t want to stay and order other drinks but know that we will be back again soon to try the pancakes. This place offers good comfort food in a smaller more intimate space than many breakfast restaurants and worth checking out if you’re in Mesa! @wanderingwithustwo

The Henhouse Cafe is an outstanding place to have breakfast. My wife and I appreciated the efforts that have been put in to making the guest feel welcomed and safe during this covid crisis. The staff were wearing masks and keeping safe distance while at the same time providing excellent service. Our server, Mary, was attentive and friendly. The food menu had many offerings that were out of the ordinary. I had the delicious and filling Cali Benedict and my wife had the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Pancake. The food was great, the atmosphere inviting, and the service outstanding.

As much as I have loved this place in the past.... I will not return again until they observe safety protocols for Covid 19. We did not observe any staff wearing masks. Our hostess was not wearing gloves. They did not have single use menus. I did not see any tables removed or blocked off for social distancing purposes. Their outdoor seating is badly worn and it is questionable if it is even safe (the hostess seamed shocked that we wanted to sit outside). Yes, the coffee and food remains the same quality as always, but their cavalier attitude towards safety in a pandemic was deeply disappointing.

The breakfast we had there was delicious and the service was outstanding. Their menu has quite a variety of breakfast items to choose from, Definitely a top pick!
