Okoboji Store Reviews
Every other bar on the lake allows well behaved dogs on the lower level. No sign. Not immediately confronted about it. Very disappointed. Won’t be back.
Checked in tonight and got a confirmation text at 6:37pm and were told by the hostess 1hr - 1.5hr. Went up when we had waited 1 hour 50 minutes with no table and were told ANOTHER 30 MINUTES. It is currently 9:06pm and we STILL have not received a text our table is ready. On top of that, hostesses were all extremely rude to both me and my husband when we were nothing but polite asking how many tables were ahead of us on the list to get an update since we have 3 young kids. Have always loved the Okoboji Store until the moment they told me it was 2.5 hour wait for a table let alone how long until we would get food (had two kids with us) - then had our dog on a leash from the boat and they ended up kicking us out even though my dog was on a leash no further than 3 in from me. They need to relax with the outside vibe as long as pets are on a leash.
Menu
Okoboji Store offers excellent hamburgers and flavorful charred Brussel sprouts. The restaurant provides a great view of boat traffic and has tasty drinks, along with flavorful food like chicken sandwiches and fish tacos. Visitors have noted that the service can be outstanding, particularly when staff members like Madison are on duty, although it can vary depending on the event or holiday. The food is generally worth the wait, but sometimes the wait can be long, especially during holiday weekends. The fish basket is highly recommended, often described as the best in the West. Some guests have experienced issues with menu choices, wishing for more variety like steak, and have found certain dishes, such as mac and cheese, lacking in quality. Although the food is fresh and fairly priced, the restaurant may not be very accommodating for gluten-free diets. Okoboji Store holds historical significance for many visitors, filled with childhood memories. Parking can be limited, especially for larger vehicles, and navigating the tight parking lot can be challenging, so smaller cars are recommended. The atmosphere often features live music and loud sports on TV, which may not suit those seeking quiet dining. The restaurant is kid-friendly and a vibrant place to enjoy good food with live entertainment. During busy holiday weekends, expect to wait about an hour for food during peak hours. Overall, it remains a lively spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy good food, drinks, and a scenic view of the lake.
