I just wanted to start off by saying: if you treat workers poorly, you can’t expect good service. I’m from Texas but have family in Iowa so I visit SmokeyRow a few times a year. The staff here is very friendly, and most of them are young adults—college students and teenagers. I found them to be very helpful, and they worked as quickly as possible under the circumstances (it was extremely busy, and I learned that the baristas are also the cooks!). It honestly broke my heart...
It was an odd sort of order at the counter-style diner. You pay when ordering & I found it weird that they asked for a tip even before we got our food or any other service. (I did leave a tip on the table).
One of my favorite places in Oskaloosa. Excellent sandwiches, salads and soups, as well as coffee. Try a half and half with a cup of cheeseburger chowder and your choice of a salad or a half sandwich.
