I love dessert. The dessert isn’t fresh. The cheese cake and chocolate cake are kinda dried out.

Riverside Family Restaurant is a great spot for tasty, hearty food at very reasonable 2025 prices. The service was warm and friendly, which made the visit even more enjoyable.
I had the Gyro Omelet (pictured), and it was delicious—loaded with flavorful toppings, just the way most of us like it. The pancakes were also quite good.
The atmosphere is typical of a classic diner—maybe a bit dated, but that adds to its charm rather than detracts from it.
We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in the Ottumwa area!

Horrible. Was seated at a broken table. Place was dirty everywhere. Servers were sitting around talking about their boyfriends and their problems instead of grabbing a rag and cleaning something. Our server was new and obviously had zero training. She was really nice but when she served our food she asked us if it looked ok and apologized for the wait. My burger was pretty bad. Side salad was a joke. Zero consistency and quality control.

Love their breakfast. They have great prices for great food. I really enjoy their pancakes and poached eggs with hot sauce and bacon!
