This was the first time we dined at Wissota Chophouse and definitely will not be our last. The ambience, food, and service were outstanding. This is one of the best dining experiences we've had and was a pleasant surprise to find when visiting family in our hometown of Ottumwa.
Our reservations were for 4:00 pm so restaurant was not busy. The service was great. Checked on us regularly without being overly intrusive. The food tasted and looked good. The portions are big for sides and desserts so you can share. Highly recommend for a special occasion. They allow tastings of draft beers which was a nice way to get everyone relaxed and talking.
This was our third time eating here. Every time we've been here, the food has been delicious and the service is excellent. It's a wonderful place to celebrate special occasions!
Michelle and her team did an awesome job as always, they continue to hit their mark in service and fine dining 😎👍👍
Continued personal and friendly service. Food was fresh and steak tender. Low noise level was good for conversation .
Bar selection is decent. Requested an Old Fashion with Woodford Reserve. The list of "shareables" is extensive and varied. Tried the stuffed Italian olives and a wedge salad. The bacon they use is delicious. We shared a 14 oz ribeye that was done perfectly. I would have liked a little more salt and garlic, but that's just me. The garlic mashed potatoes say for two, but at least three could share. Asparagus with hollandaise was smoky delicious, but a little over-done. Still, very good. We closed the night with French-pressed coffee, and a half order of the chocolate cake. If you are a chocolate lover, this is for you. The cake is moist and dark, drizzled with caramel, sliced strawberries and whipped cream,. Again, personal preference is without the caramel and frosting. The service is excellent. You won't leave hungry, or disappointed.
As always this place is the best. Steaks are always delicious and the lobster bisque was fantastic! If only it was a little cheaper, we would come every week!
I had high hopes for this place. However, it definitely fell short. The service initially was...okay, but that changed with the bill unfortunately. Now for the food. If you are a an experienced Chilean Sea Bass eater, don't order that there! It was greasy and very fishy tasting. Pretty sure that was cooked in 3 inches of grease. It was horrible, not to mention expensive. We were supposed to get half off the drinks due to happy hour and it was evident in the bill that didn't happen. There were two of us, which we split the bill. After bringing the error to their attention, the manager didn't even know how to remedy the bill. What?! Big red flag there. It's too bad really;it does have potential, but whoever owns this needs a better manager and...Chef. Side note: I still paid for the Bass even though it was bad.
Took quite awhile for us to get waited on to put in drink orders. Service seemed kind of slow. Salad and soup came shortly before main meal did. Food was very good and tasty. Our server was super nice and so was the manager.
Visiting from San Diego and stopped here while home for Christmas. The service was absolutely exceptional, we ordered several beers, cocktails and appetizers. The manager visited our table and was extremely personable and pleasant. Our server made sure we were satisfied at all times and made sure our glasses were full, and we were satisfied with our food. We ordered the charcuterie board, alligator, and steak flatbread; all were exceptional. We also ordered the seasonal cocktail and a couple beers- their beer and wine list is vast and has something for everyone. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant to anyone, by far the best food and service I've had in SEI

We were excited to try this restaurant, but it was a disappointing dining experience. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and were promptly seated. Everything after that was unbelievably slow. It was a VERY long wait for our drinks (we were a party of 2, one was wine so not complicated). We ordered an appetizer and that was good, but again very slow. We each ordered a steak and shared a vegetable. The steaks were delivered on a plain white plate with nothing else. We are used to nice steakhouses having sides be ala cart, but usually they do something to make it look nicer than a slab of meat in the middle of a plate. When the server brought our steaks out he said there weren't any clean steak knives but they would bring them out shortly (never actually got them). The steaks were fair, not amazing (one overcooked some), pretty bland. The gentleman at the table beside us had asked for steak sauce and they said they didn't have any. The second round of drinks (two glasses of wine) came long after we ordered them and because we were going to a show next door, we didn't even have time to finish them. For the price point, the service and food just didn't deliver. The restaurant was busy, but not totally full so I'm not sure why everything was so slow. The manager did come around to introduce herself, but it would have been nicer for her to focus on making sure things were more efficiently run or at least explain why everything was so slow. Thank goodness we arrived early and asked for the check as soon as our entrees arrived or we would have been late for our show.
Very nice steakhouse with quality food and plenty of menu options. Rare find in rural southeast iowa

Everything was fantastic. I ordered the sauteed calamari and steak flatbread. Denisha was my server and she was very attentive and friendly. The manager came to my table when I was finished to make sure I was satisfied. I would highly recommend Wissota to anyone looking for great food and great service.
