Locals told us that the pork tenderloin sandwich was the best and they were right -- seasoned and cooked to perfection. The spicy cheese curds were great! Just a bit on the hot side. The ice cream is smooth and creamy. The serving sizes are generous. The patio area is large but chilly during the winter. There are a few tables near the counter that are warmer. The service was polite and friendly, but not overly so. We will be visiting again in the future if we get a chance. On our last visit, the fish sandwich was disappointing (a small fried fillet on a cold hot dog bun. The hamburger was good, well cooked, but the was some seasoning on the meat that I didn't enjoy, though it was mild.

Let me preface by saying that the quality of the food has always been top notch and still is. Also, I concede that I was there on a Friday night when great weather had just set in and it was a great night to be out, so everyone was, and Goldie's was jammed with customers. That being said, I called in a pick-up order for the special dinner at about 7:40. I was told it would be about 20 minutes to get ready, so I arrived about 8:00 and seated at the counter, as the drive-up was lined up to the street. I sat there for 20 minutes before anyone asked me how they could help me. That 20 minutes was the most frustrating time I've experienced since the military. The chefs remained in the kitchen, which was the most organized aspect of the activity, but the rest of the staff moved at break-neck speed going about waiting on one customer at a time, swerving to avoid collisions with one another on a continuous basis. There was a flurry of activity that LOOKED productive, but was self destructive. Everybody did everything. In other words, there was no process, no routine, no focusing of duties. Does an automobile manufacturer (or ANY manufacturer) have one person build the car from start to finish? Nope. Ford turns out a car every 35 minutes, from one factory. Why? because they have a system. Everyone has a job or two to do and they do it well. Brad, you need an orderly process to build your ice cream products that makes efficient use of the people you have and lightens the heavy feeling of confusion. By the way, I have noticed the inching UP of prices and the inching DOWN of helpings. Pick one.
This spot is worth a detour - My husband and I were driving through Iowa on a road trip and were hungry for a good pork tenderloin sandwich. This place is the best! Great service, huge and tasty pork tenderloin on a delicious bun with all of the trimmings. We enjoyed the fries and onion rings and then had to split an apple pie with vanilla soft serve ice cream. All at a very good price!
Always great food and great service!!

Always a stop when I'm in town whether for a quick shake or a meal. The specials are always a go to! Best tenderloin in Iowa hands down. Forget whatever the choice is for the current year, it's always Goldie's!

Going on 20+ minutes sitting after we have already pulled forward after ordering a walking taco and a side of fried cauliflower... Do Better Goldies. Very poor service.
