Depot Restaurant & Lounge

Husband and I came in for dinner on a Thursday night. I ordered a chicken gizzard basket. What I received was a basket of chicken livers. When we spoke to the waiter, he took our concern to the kitchen, we could clearly hear the kitchen staff talking horribly to our waiter. The kitchen staff then spent the next 10 minutes speaking loudly about us.
I have cooked gizzards all my life, my husband has been a chef for almost 2 decades. We could tell the difference by both texture and taste. I am not sure how much of our bill was for the abusive language coming from the kitchen, but we will stay in Clarinda for dinner and keep our money in our own community.

We sat at the bar and ate both times we came in and it was nice. Very attractive bartender and great conversation.

1st visit was a few weeks ago(new to the area) we had the catfish & walleye specials.
Food was excellent & so was the service!
I took my daughter yesterday for her birthday, again great food & service!
I actually left my card & of course the wonderful staff held it for me until I was able to get it!
Oh BTW, the atmosphere is amazing!

Ruben sandwich hit the spot but was long on saur kraut and short on beef. Service was excelent. We plan to retirn for peach pie in the future.

I go 40 miles out of my way whenever I'm in the area. I love the hot beef sandwich. Just like my Iowa grandma used to make. You can't beat the historical building and atmosphere filled with hundreds of local history items. I usually add a slice of pie for the perfect comfort food meal. They regularly have live music in the summer months. Be sure to check the schedule.

Food is great and you get plenty of it. Service is great always coming around to refill drinks and to find out if you want anything else. Atmosphere is wonderful.

We stopped for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was pretty good. Service was excellent and overall nice atmosphere.

Quaint local eatery. Good stick to your ribs American cuisine. Staff is hospitable and gracious. Every Thursday is music night.

Went on a 1st date there and it was awesome. The food was good and the ambience was great. Will go back (with her) again!!!
