I was saddened to see this great place reduced to a carryout. This is the best pizza in Iowa. Their taco pizza is a staple of our cuisine. How did we let Domino's and Pizza Hut take over what should be a Happy Joe's town?

Ordered a barbecue pizza two weeks ago and it was amazing. Ordered it today, September 30 and supposedly the ingredients have changed and you put ground beef instead of the shredded because you didn’t have any but didn’t tell anybody. IA bate and switch is not acceptable. Your staff should’ve told people that things have changed instead of wasting $27 on a pizza that you did not expect

The staff communicated clearly.
They’re crust is denser and harder to chew. We ordered and paid for a pizza, said 15-20 minutes. No place to sit and wait inside so we sat in our vehicle which was parked right in front of the window. We were waiting for them to let us know when it was ready but after 25 minutes went back inside, she took it out of the hot box and gave it to us. Would it have been too much to ask that they could have waved at us, come to the door and said hey your pizza is ready, possibly even brought it to us in the car. $ 22.80 for a medium regular crust taco pizza and in my opinion wasn’t worth it.

I grew up in Bettendorf where Happy Joes has always been a household name in the community. While this location lacks the classic parlor format and the joegurt, the Taco pizza I got was just as great as I remember from my childhood!

I used to love their pan pizza. Now, the cheese is different, used to be more of a cheddar/mozzarella combo and tasted like real cheese. Now it's that glossy shiny kind like you'd find on a frozen pizza and doesn't have any cheddar that I can see. Also, extra cheese used to mean actual extra cheese. Like 1/2” of cheese. Barely a coating this time. The pan crust is different (def not as greasy) and the sauce (used to be kind of sweet) is more tangy and vinegary) and much less sauce was on the pizza. Not a sauce person typically but I used to love the extra sauce because it was actually good. Tastes like what I'd imagine little Cesar's would taste like. Not worth the nearly $20 we spent on a medium.

Nice decorations in the dining room.
Very solid pizza place. Taco Joe is a legend and I heavily endorse their Garlic Cheese Toast and dessert pizza. A little pricier than the chains but quality makes up for it.

Food was great, service was good, atmosphere...it's a take-out counter with a few chairs. The space is clean and serves it purpose. If you were expecting a Happy Joe's pizza and ice cream parlor atmosphere- nope. Not a sit down restaurant.

I ding because it is taken out only. I grew up with the arcade and ice cream parlor. But this place for taco pizza and Canadian Pizza still rocks. Whenever I am in Iowa I look to see if any place is close by.
Soon there won't be many left but enjoy the unique taco pizza if you can. It's an acquired taste.
