There was a off-putting smell when I entered. They said they would be with me in 1 second. They never came back so I just left. I didn't even get to taste the food.

If you're looking for fast food fish and chicken this is an option. High fat content and pretty bad service. I have received less pieces of chicken than what I ordered and when I called them they would not make it right. The Douglas location in Des Moines is worth avoiding at all costs.

Portions are entirely too small and sometimes not always fresh and the fries suck now that you've changed them to waffle fries please go back to the original fries you will have a lot more happy customers

Its a fast food place. Wife gets chicken and fish and all I get is 3 piece fish. The only bad thing is it's on the other side of town

Ordered a root beer fish and shrimp platter. I would say I don’t know if they can’t read or don’t care but I know they don’t care.

Forgot the shrimp and gave me some lemonade.

There always super rude when I go there and they even mess my order up in person.

Do we just not take pride in our work anymore is that to much to ask.

God forbid your asked to do a job you signed up for and do it with respect.

This is the 2nd time we got home and our order was not complete.

The food is great. I made a online delivery order and a good portion of my order was not delivered. This isn't their problem but I called to notify them I need the rest of my order and was told I could come pick it up. I drove there and was no t given an apology or coupon or anything. Just a thanks. I didn't want to drive 20 mins there and back, that's why I ordered delivery. I don't usually do this but it really pissed me off...

This location is first and foremost a Long John Silver's that also happens to offer A&W menu options. However the A&W menu is limited to their standard combos and ice cream items. Stand-alone A&W locations have additional menu items to offer. Service is friendly and efficient. Sadly, like every LJS I've visited over the past year, the food (while fresh and flavorful) is oddly lukewarm in temperature, when in the past it's always been steaming hot upon serving. Atmosphere-wise is where this particular location really excels compared to the other LJS's I've frequented. All the other ones I've been to the last couple of years have stripped down their maritime decor and painted everything a plain, ugly white color. Not this place though. This LJS feels like it should with lots of fun sea-faring themed decorations and a warm, inviting wooden brown color. The A&W mash-up also provides a jukebox that customers can use with classic rock/pop songs playing in the restaurant. This particular location is out of my way compared to others, but I intend to revisit it the first chance I can. But please LJS, do something about heating up your food.

I came here today August 31st 2025, and the fish was the best I've had in 10 years. There is a new manager that just introduced himself, and said it's going to stay that way

Great food

This places needs a whole new parking lot and drive through. While, yes, the cheese curds are ok, it's not great, and, sadly, overpriced for the quality. The breading was not crisp, very minimal pull on the curds (possibly sitting out for a while, but that is the standard for fast food), the burger was rather dry, relying more on the condiments to provide a healthy bite than anything, and worst of all was the wait. We spent over thirty minutes waiting for one burger and two orders of cheese curds, and the person in front of us had stated they had been there for almost forty minutes.

TL;DR: the food was what you expect out of fast food with the full wait of a five star restaurant.
