Just ate at The U Neighborhood for the first time. Can't say enough good things! Had a very friendly, welcoming greeting when we walked in. Service was awesome. It was our waiter's first day and he did great! Food was excellent! They had my favorite crinkle fries and the salad was so fresh and great! This is also my favorite place for cheeseburgers! Delicious! ?? Only downside is the fountain Coke and I'm a Pepsi girl. ? Highly recommend!! Super friendly people and casual atmosphere

I went at a non peak time, so I got excellent service, all very personable staff. They accommodated my request for no mayo, what more can ya ask for?---food was slightly pricey for bar food, but it was tasty. The corn bite things were banging.
They have board games laying about, and a lot of tvs. It lives up to it's name, felt like a university bar for middle aged people. It's 10-20 a person if you don't drink, others you hit that 20-30 range

Ate here because other places in area were busy. Place was great and the chicken tacos were awesome. Plenty of seating and the staff does a great job.

Great neighborhood bar and really enjoyed ourselves for hours. We ended up getting a pizza home run, and it was a little disappointing for my guest. I thought maybe frozen pizza doctor up, but I enjoyed it and took home a doggie box.

A year ago a friend and I visited The U, and upon our arrival, we were met with discrimination. The waitress, a brunette woman wearing glasses immediately refused to provide us with service, and when we inquired about her reasoning, her response was simply, "because I can." Despite our peaceful demeanor we decided to leave the premises without causing any further disturbance.Regrettably, a similar incident took place when I revisited The U today. To my dismay, the same waitress recognized me and proceeded to kick me out once again for no reason. Considering the lack of diverse clientele present at the restaurant, it is disheartening to believe the only plausible reason for such treatment could be attributed to our race. Both my friend and I are African-American.I have made the decision to escalate this matter by reaching out to the NAACP and local news outlets to shed light on the discrimination I have faced at The U.
We love this place! Sasha always greets us with her smile and her laugh is contagious! We have always been pleased with our food. The atmosphere is friendly and the bar is always clean!
Owners both working when we came in. That gets my respect. Food was good, salad is better than most nice restaurants. Beer is in chilled glasses. TVs are plentiful. Give them a try.
Kid-friendliness: Chalk boards for kids.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and a couple drinks. Service was good, food was o.k. but the worst part was we were having to swat the gnats/fruit flies off our food and drinks the whole time.

Was a frequent customer of this place for many years while it was VIctor’s & The U. Always loved their food. New ownership now. Went in today & ordered the grinder. Worst sandwich I’ve ever had. Was shocked how quick it was served. Not on toasted bun as it was for years. Flavor was not there, served cold with Mozzarella sprinkled on top & not melted. Ordered onion rings for my side ~ obvious oil in fryer was over due to be changed. OR were very dark and could not even taste an onion. Complained to bartender and her response was “well we have a new cook” Sat at bar & customer next to us complained to bartender ~ showed her a bug in his draft beer. Overly disappointed and after spending $65 including a few drinks & tip … it was Wednesday wing day. I ordered 20 wings to bring home. They were dry rubbed, made sure they were fully cooked, ate one & will be throwing the remaining 19 off the gravel road for the critters. What a waste of money, they will never see me return. Bartender should of never served the sandwich & if I had not been so eager to make an appointment, I would of complained to mgmt. before leaving! John Taffer would of been disgusted! ~ guessing we will hear it changes ownership again soon. I’ll never return ~ Pretty sad that what was once a thriving spot in Urbandale is no longer! I will add that I worked at Victor’s for 10 years part time, we had a full bar regularly & repeat customers that ate there often. Never closed before 1 am as we were always busy. Writing this review I was shocked to see how early they were closed. Obvious they don’t have enough customers to keep the place open! We were there at 1:00 in the afternoon & they had more staff there then the total of 3 customers at bar & 3 customers at a table that were playing cards.
