We come to Waterloo once a year for golf tournament. We were recommended the Brown Bottle by many people so we got a hotel close to that restaurant. We stumbled upon Basal because it was SO close to our hotel. The pizza was fantastic! The service was amazing. I want to knock them because of technology of ordering but I can’t because that’s my personal preference. My husband is a “high maintenance” eater and he even said it’s one of the best pizzas he has had.
The Yukon pizza is the way to go. We did order the Nutella pizza which is what attracted us to Basal after looking at the menu but it was not our favorite but still all around delicious.

Very low key and great vibes inside. Quiet and chill and you order from scanning the qr code. Yummy beer on tap and bruschetta was amazing !!!

I really wanted to try this place. I liked the food. Ordering through QR code sucks. I just wanted another drink and the waiter sitting on a fold out chair with his arms crossed yells across the room that your order didn’t come through the machine instead of coming to talk to you. He was rude. I won’t go back if he is there.

This is the only Neapolitan style pizza that I have found that matches the taste and ingredient quality of Twin Cities chain Punch Pizza, my all time favorite. The sauce, mozzarella cheese and crust char were spot on. Plus the pizzas arrive table-side uncut with a personal pizza cutter for sharing, a small but important nuance for Neapolitan pizza. We sampled the Margherita and the salami pizzas. Both were great. Nice location too, and the server took time to chat with us. Definitely will stop in the next time I’m in Waterloo.

Best pizzas I've ever had... And, I've had many. Staff has great personalities, just a bit difficult to figure out exact hours of operations.

Quite literally the two best pizzas I've ever eaten and both in one location: Margherita (clean, classic) Regular Pepperoni & Sausage (Delicious and an abundance of toppings).
Tried to order another pie today - posted hours of operation were incorrect, as other reviews have stated. The best pizza I have ever eaten, just hard to figure out when they're open.

Good brick oven pizza. Only a few selections of pizza to choose from out of deep dish or hand tossed. Hand tossed is 10 inches. Deep dish feeds 2 people. Very limited bar - tall boys, regular vodka, rail whiskey, rail rum, water, canned soda. $30 for a Busch light tall boy, a Moscow mule, and a 10 inch sausage pizza.
