“Our recent trip to Waterloo was topped off by a fantastic dining experience at D&K Hickory House restaurant. Thanks to a Google search of nearby restaurants, we stumbled on this "hidden treasure", and we're absolutely blown away. From the fast and courteous service by Cindy, our amazing server, to the final farewell from the owners daughter ( sorry, I didn't catch her name), this place hit it out of the park. My wife and I ordered salads with bleu cheese dressing, and were expecting the standard, generic dressing that attempts to taste like the real thing..WOW, were we wrong!! What we received was a homemade dressing with big chunks of real bleu cheese in a tangy-sweet mixture that left us wanting more. When I commented to Cindy, that it was the best I had tasted, she suggested we try the creamy garlic, also homemade, and she brought us a sample to try...another Home Run !!. When our entrees arrived, which was surprisingly quick for a Saturday night, we were again, incredibly impressed. I had the rib dinner, with hash browns. The ribs were tender, tangy, and literally falling off the bone. As a BBQ junkie, I was in 7th Heaven. My wife opted for the fried shrimp and they were cooked to perfection. The meals also came with choice of potato, a basket with dinner rolls and crackers, and a small relish tray...all very tasty . When Cindy brought our bill, she offered us a brief history of the place, and it sounds like citizens of Waterloo/Cedar Falls have been enjoying this local joint for over 70 years...very impressive. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our visit, and we will be sure to return again, the next time we are in the area. Two things to consider before visiting, they take cash & check only...no electronic payment...no problem...and, you would be wise to call first for reservation.. Truly a memorable meal and dining experience. 5 stars all around !!”

“I’ve never had authentic Haitian cuisine before and had an absolutely wonderful experience dining here! A very gracious owner, cool atmosphere (they even have couches where you can dine & relax). The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The owner let us play our own music and even gave me a complimentary smoothie drink when leaving, let’s not forget about the Prestige Haitian Beer. What a fantastic and unexpected experience! Thank you!”

“Park road is just a small neighborhood bar that accepts cash, doesn't stand for foolishness but you can play darts, sing to the jukebox, and find someone to laugh and maybe have a dance with. Just a place for no bs and to have a couple good drinks.”

“Finally got a chance to try Hidden Pizza and it did not disappoint. Well except the plastic utensils that are worthless for getting through the crust. That and the hours of operation make it difficult to give a 5 star review. The pizza, sauce, ingredients, and crust were favorable by my whole family. We chose to eat pizza and walk the casino for free drinks afterwards. :).”

“If you haven't been, you need to go to the old Wonder Bread factory in Waterloo. Single Speed is one of, if not THE best brewery in Iowa. You will have an amazing experience and absolutely delicious beer.”

“We came here for a date night Friday night, around 8:45. The atmosphere both inside and outside is fantastic, we really loved the outdoor patio, it is truly a vibe. There was a Dj outside kicking out Jams, he was never so loud that we couldn’t talk at our table and I really loved that.

Our server took a bit getting to our table and once we ordered drinks it took almost 20 minutes to get them, they were fairly busy and she had a large birthday table, so we completely understood. She was very nice and attentive for the most part, understanding she had a lot of tables.

We ordered the shrimp appetizer, these are really good especially with the Honey Bourbon Sauce, these house cocktail sauce is also delicious!

We also had the Philly Cheesesteak Flatbread, this was perfect! Right amount of toppings, cheese and crisp to the flatbread!

All and all a really good experience and excellent food!”

“I loved Macarons by Sani! She was so easy to work with and so helpful. I live a ways away from Waterloo so she set aside desserts for my dad to pickup for me. She was so kind, helpful and the desserts were incredible too. I have seen the mousse cakes all over social media and hers lived up to every expectation 💕 favorites were raspberry pistachio, coconut mango and raspberry but all were delicious!”

I stopped in to see if they had a menu at all, but unfortunately they just had frozen pizzas. Which is fine, I was just looking for something different for lunch.
The bartender was very friendly and told me about several places near by that I could go to. One being right next door.

“Locally owned with delicious finds! All things charcutterie!!! Tons of meat and cheese selection. Many European imports and delicious sweets, chocolates and treats! In house bakery, daily fresh bread. Their to go orders are the best. Bosnian Cevapi are a total hit. They also do daily specials. My kids love burek (meat pies with flaky dough), chicken sandwiches but I live their roasted veal!!! Perfect for large groups, makes me a Rockstar hostess !”

“I saw a post in the Waterloo Foodies group about crab rangoon nachos and dill pickle soup. ummm count me in!?! i could not stop thinking about it. the images and thought literally made my mouth water. told my husband on our next date night I want to go there for those items. he thought maybe they would only be seasonal so he called to place a take out order. food was ready in less than 15 minutes. super friendly guy when it came to pick up. he said they are working on getting these items added to the website and door dash menus. even packaged the nacho toppings separately so they wouldn't get soggy (super appreciative) it was phenomenal - and I don't use that word often. I already can't wait for date night so we can order again 👏🏽😍 11/10 no disappointments.”
