“Our recent trip to Waterloo was topped off by a fantastic dining experience at D&K Hickory House restaurant. Thanks to a Google search of nearby restaurants, we stumbled on this "hidden treasure", and we're absolutely blown away. From the fast and courteous service by Cindy, our amazing server, to the final farewell from the owners daughter ( sorry, I didn't catch her name), this place hit it out of the park. My wife and I ordered salads with bleu cheese dressing, and were expecting the standard, generic dressing that attempts to taste like the real thing..WOW, were we wrong!! What we received was a homemade dressing with big chunks of real bleu cheese in a tangy-sweet mixture that left us wanting more. When I commented to Cindy, that it was the best I had tasted, she suggested we try the creamy garlic, also homemade, and she brought us a sample to try...another Home Run !!. When our entrees arrived, which was surprisingly quick for a Saturday night, we were again, incredibly impressed. I had the rib dinner, with hash browns. The ribs were tender, tangy, and literally falling off the bone. As a BBQ junkie, I was in 7th Heaven. My wife opted for the fried shrimp and they were cooked to perfection. The meals also came with choice of potato, a basket with dinner rolls and crackers, and a small relish tray...all very tasty . When Cindy brought our bill, she offered us a brief history of the place, and it sounds like citizens of Waterloo/Cedar Falls have been enjoying this local joint for over 70 years...very impressive. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our visit, and we will be sure to return again, the next time we are in the area. Two things to consider before visiting, they take cash & check only...no electronic payment...no problem...and, you would be wise to call first for reservation.. Truly a memorable meal and dining experience. 5 stars all around !!”

“A friend who I had shared with that, I had the best bar pizza in my life told that Behar Bar also served this particular pizza as well I jumped at the chance. As it turned out they were out of the supreme Pizza that I wanted. At first I was kind of bummed out but then they told me about their other specials I figured I'm already here so I might as well order. I ended up having a good Time. The place has darts to play, video poker and a bar that is stacked. The Bartender was friendly and her suggestions were on point.”

“Park road is just a small neighborhood bar that accepts cash, doesn't stand for foolishness but you can play darts, sing to the jukebox, and find someone to laugh and maybe have a dance with. Just a place for no bs and to have a couple good drinks.”

“Finally got a chance to try Hidden Pizza and it did not disappoint. Well except the plastic utensils that are worthless for getting through the crust. That and the hours of operation make it difficult to give a 5 star review. The pizza, sauce, ingredients, and crust were favorable by my whole family. We chose to eat pizza and walk the casino for free drinks afterwards. :).”

“The Brussel sprouts are amazing. The small order is perfect for 2. We got the hoisin sauce on the side, which was a great decision. Nice staff. Beautiful distillery. TVs need to play different shows/sports/games instead of the same thing on all screens. It was a fun visit overall.”

I stopped in to see if they had a menu at all, but unfortunately they just had frozen pizzas. Which is fine, I was just looking for something different for lunch.
The bartender was very friendly and told me about several places near by that I could go to. One being right next door.
On my way back to my car, I stopped back in and let him know that his suggestion was amazing and thanked him.”

It's a pub with pub food but the French Dip was better than most. Lightly toasted bun, plenty of beef, cheese, and diced green peppers. A winner. The Broasted Potatoes were good too.

“We had a really good experience at Chick-fil-A. The service was friendly, quick, and organized, which is always one of the things I appreciate most about this place. Even when they are busy, the staff usually keeps everything moving smoothly and makes the experience feel pleasant.

We tried the new sandwich without bacon, and we really liked it. It was fresh, flavorful, and still tasted great even without the bacon. The chicken was cooked well, the bun was soft, and everything came together nicely. It felt like a good new option on the menu, especially for anyone who wants to skip bacon but still enjoy a filling and tasty sandwich.

The only thing I would mention is the fruit cup. It did not look as fresh as expected and seemed a little old compared to the rest of the meal. Since Chick-fil-A usually has good quality sides, I was hoping the fruit would look brighter and fresher.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back. The sandwich was a hit, the service was great, and the overall experience was very positive. Just hoping the fruit cups can be a little fresher next time.”

“Treated myself to the Sirloin Steak Entre, and it was surprisingly delicious! I did order medium rare and what I got was very rare but it was easy enough for me to take care of that at home. “Just moved here a d was looking for a good sub place. Always leary about chains.
I was extremely suprised by Sub City.
The menu was simple and prices looked fair before I chose to try this place.
Entering it was a simple straight forward kind of place. Nothing out of thr ordinary and nothing special looking. But it smelled great and was immediately greated by the staff. The staff were very quick and efficient as far as taking and making my order.
The sub was beyond anything I expected. It was huge! Truly generous serving of meats and toppings. The bread was soft, delicious and I truly needed 2 hands to hold it to eat. (Im a big guy. I can easily hold most subs with one hand). Most places a full sub plus some sides might fill me up when I'm only partly hungry. I was only partly hungry coming here and 1/2 sub filled me up. And left me dinner or snack for later.

I highly recommend this place if you want a good sub! My friend tried the lobster bisque with her sub. She said it was the best she ever had. And a large soda is truly a large soda. Not the rip off large these fast food places claim are large now a days.
Can hardly wait to go back and try some of the other subs!”

In house bakery, daily fresh bread. Their to go orders are the best. Bosnian Cevapi are a total hit. They also do daily specials. “I saw a post in the Waterloo Foodies group about crab rangoon nachos and dill pickle soup. ummm count me in!?! i could not stop thinking about it. the images and thought literally made my mouth water. told my husband on our next date night I want to go there for those items. he thought maybe they would only be seasonal so he called to place a take out order. food was ready in less than 15 minutes. super friendly guy when it came to pick up. he said they are working on getting these items added to the website and door dash menus. even packaged the nacho toppings separately so they wouldn't get soggy (super appreciative) it was phenomenal - and I don't use that word often. I already can't wait for date night so we can order again 👏🏽😍 11/10 no disappointments.”

After a cancer biopsy at Unity Health across the street, it was Happy Hour and a great place to regroup for the trip home.
