“Had a delightful breakfast here--fresh, hot, tasty omelet; i chose swiss and mushrooms. My husband's pancakes and sausage were just right. Best of all was the service -- Dawntrese was an excellent server who anticipated what we needed and supplied it pleasantly.“

“Really nice and beautifully decorated place. Good vibes! The owner is very friendly too!The savory food is good, but i find most of the Macarons too sweet. I have tried a lot of flavors, and some of them are just fantastic, but others are not so much. The cakes looked so decorative and fantastic. I did not get a chance to try it, not yet.I will keep on coming back here, but I hope macarons are not over sweet.Vegetarian options: Lenty of vegetarian options in savory foods, and of course, Macarons does not contain meat.Parking: Paid waterloo city street parking.“

Try Pie Bakery Bakery • $

“My family loves Try Pie. They are about the only place in the Cedar Valley where we can get a treat that is accommodating towards those with a gluten sensitivity. Their staff has always been accommodating whenever we’ve needed to order a gluten free pie. While all their pies are delicious, our go-to is the raspberry.“

“There are certain things in life that you can not imagine living without, things like air conditioning and coffee. I do not need them to survive, but once I have had them, I cannot do without. That is exactly how I feel about the peanut butter donuts at Rockets. I originally tried them when they were served only in the LaPorte City Bakery and now that they are available only a few blocks away, my life just became a little bit better.“

Ledos Bakery Bakery • $
131 Brookeridge Dr, Waterloo

“There's no denial that they have one of the freshest and most affordable bread in town, but I wish they have better pricing labels. Some items have no pricing, and they don't provide an itemized receipt so you really don't know the price of the product. While the shop is small and tight, the owner does a great job providing a variety of Balkan products and the shelves are stocked and organized. Overall, the shop is a great place to go, and it's a local family owned business that's worth supporting. P.S: I wish the owner smiles more :)“

“Great little donut shop; the employees were friendly, donuts are unique and a lot of thought has gone into fun names, decadent nature of some of the pastries is lovely but can be a bit rich for a morning treat, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable so feel free to bring the kids or just sit and have some coffee with your sweet treat.“

Scratch Cookies

“We were recently on a family roadtrip, during which our vegan daughter's birthday was going to occur. I had brought a vegan sweet treat along with us, but was hoping we would stumble on a bakery that had a vegan cake option. After a comedy of errors at the Hardee's across the street, we randomly ended up in this plaza to get my daughter a vegan sandwich from the Starbucks. On our way out, we saw Scratch and decided to pop in. It was our vegan-lucky-day because Scratch did carry a vegan cupcake! It was a chocolate chip vegan cupcake. I purchased two of those, and and assortment of four others for our birthday celebration. The cupcakes needed to survive two days across two states in a sort-of-cool cooler, and luckily they mostly made the trek. The chocolate peanut butter cupcake's frosting took a dive in that time, but the others held up well. When we finally indulged in our Scratch cupcakes for our vegan daughter's birthday, the birthday girl was pleased with her treat! Everyone enjoyed their cupcakes, our spread was pretty good! The wedding cake cupcake was overly extract'ed, and the price was high ($16 for a half-dozen), but we were still happy to have stumbled on Scratch with a vegan cupcake option for our vegan birthday girl. She was one happy newly-14 year old! :-D“
