“This is a great little coffee shop. I had a Turkish blend dark roast with a shot of espresso and it was fantastic. Also one of the cleanest public bathrooms in a coffee shop I have ever experienced. I would definitely poop here if I had to.According to signage and the surroundings, they're very bicycle and dog friendly as well.“

“Every summer when I was little, Cookies & More was one of the highlights of the trip we’d take out to the Midwest to see family and two decades later even though we don’t visit Iowa City as much anymore, my mom surprises me every now and then by shipping out a bucket of their monster cookies. I can’t say I’ve tried any cookie other than the monster cookie because we’d just order about four dozen of them and that was the only kind we needed honestly.I just started a new job and was pleasantly surprised by a bucket of monster cookies in my mail box and it’s brightened up my week. Treat yourself to a monster cookie for me if you live nearby! Absolutely recommend!!“
“This is my favorite place to drink tea and study in Iowa City. They have a wide variety of loose-leaf teas to choose from, each served in its own lovely tea set. It provides a calm and pleasant atmosphere and if you're lucky you can grab a window seat overlooking Dubuque Street. Usually the staff are very kind and knowledgable.“
“Place looks a little sketchy on the outside but it's a very small, 4 table restaurant/mini market, but don't let that scare you from trying this hole in the wall. Food was good, the torta was filled w meat/veggies to balance out the warm bread. Taco was good and the tripe was crispy and not too oily. Definitely authentic Mexican food and the hot sauces had a nice amount of heat. Service was quick & our waitress was friendly. We would be back to try other items on their menu.“
“The Java House is so cute! The inside is extremely cozy, feels like I'm in someone's home. I ordered their iced green tea lemonade and it was delicious. Not too sweet, not too bland, it was just right. The baristas were also very quick about getting our drinks made, which was nice. I didn't stay to drink since we were out and about, but it seems like a great place to study or work. Lots of tables and seating options!“
“A wonderful Parisian style little cafe with a wide selection of mouthwatering pasties, both sweet and savory.If the weather is warm, their outside seating area is excellent to soak in the sun while sipping on an espresso and a delicious croissant. The croissant are as good as they come around here. Flaky, buttery, and a medium between crunchy and chewy. Just made right by a crew of excellent bakers whom you can see hard at work when you make your orders.If it’s a typical cold Iowa morning, stay inside in their small space with little space in between tables. If you have never been to a cafe in Europe or elsewhere in the world, you may lose your big American Midwest privacy. I don’t mind the small spaced, it makes for real human interactions. Whether I’m reading a book or finishing up a work report.If you go there and you don’t order their quiche…I seriously doubt the soundness of your food choices. And their baguettes sandwiches are best dipped in a freshly brewed hot cup of black coffee. Do so and you are solid for the day.Finally, if you are weird like me and appreciate fine china, do marvel over their beautiful plates.“
“I would give Elida’s Bakery six stars if I could. I cannot recommend them enough! We ordered cupcakes and a cake through Elida for our wedding. There were so many flavor combinations and the process went so smoothly. Not only were they visually appealing, but they tasted INCREDIBLE. We received so many compliments! The service was outstanding. I later learned they had three other weddings the same day, and despite it being such a busy day, they arrived right on time and set up a beautiful display.I have spoken with Elida and a few of her family members on multiple occasions and they are some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. I highly recommend this business for so many reasons! They are the BEST!!“
