Stopped here on a trip and are very happy we did. The place smells amazing and the food is awesome! I had the chefs salad and broccoli cheese soup. Both were wonderful. My husband had the chili cheese monster dog with house made chili and his was really good, too. We'll definitely stop here again. The service was fantastic, too, and the decor is cute - all antique themed lunchboxes.

Oh my gosh!! Passing through Waterloo and found this little gem!! The food was SO DELICIOUS!! I had the grilled cheese and added avocado!! It was the best sandwich I’ve ever had!! And hubs had the Chicago dog and he said it was delicious!! Highly recommend this place! We will definitely be back!!

I went to Hungry Charlie's Lunchbox for the first time today and I will definitely be back! I tried the rueben panini and poblano potato salad. As the picture shows, there was a lot of meat in the panini, along with plenty of sauerkraut, cheese, and dressing. So good! It was one of the best rueben's I've had. The potato salad was also very flavorful with large chunks of potatoes in a poblano sauce. Very delicious! The service was excellent as well and I really enjoyed the 1950's decor (as well as the lovely historic building that this restaurant is in! Gorgeous ceiling and building!). Definitely a fantastic restaurant and an inexpensive, delicious meal (my sandwich was $9.99 and the side was $1.99). Can't wait to come back for more yummy food!
Great location! Super fun atmosphere and nice owner/servers. Enjoyed the decor and visiting with the staff. This is a dine-in or take-to-go type place. Similar to a subway-style placing an order. Unfortunately the food was NOT so great. We had a group of 4 of us. One had the Cuban sandwich- definitely not a traditional and not much flavor. 2 of us had the “recommended” turkey club panini. Worst panini I’ve ever had. Cheap plain white bread with a velveeta-style cheese and no flavor. Very disappointed. One had the Chicago-style hot dog. This was the only decent tasting meal of the 4 of us.
So although it’s a fun place to visit, would not recommend the food.

They didn't have Italian beef like I was hoping, but I got the French dip in its place, and it was amazing. What I really apreciated though was that the employee who was taking my order told me of a place close by that does serve Italian beef. That kind of customer service always impresses me more than anything. 100 percent recommend this place.

If you aren't eating here at lunch, you're missing out!! The food is made too order and so tasty! The salads are home made and tasty. The atmosphere is awesome and the food prep happens right in front of you. You've gotta stop!!
