Independence liquors and food

On 4/17/2025 about 5 minutes ago (9:15pm) I went to their establishment to order food. I have eaten there before and it was good. Tonight I didn’t even get to order. Looking at the menu board I decided to go with a Ohilly Double Cheeseburger in a combo. $13.99 + $4 to make it a combo. Upon ringing it up a very rude man told me it was going to be over $23! Asking why I was informed that the prices changed and that taped to the cashier opening (and also one behind the counter) were the accurate prices and it was $15.99 + the combo price. He was very condescending like we the public should know what we can’t see. So looking at the menu taped to the glass I went with a single Philly Cheeseburger combo as it was priced at $12.99 + combo price. ($16.99 + $1.02tax =$18.01) The counter person told me it was $20.57!?!? Again asking how he said because he went by the menu listed behind the counter which only he can see and that it didn’t matter that he just told me the ontaoed in view was right, because it wasn’t. I recommend only shopping there if you want to play guess the price with your money and be treated like an intellectually inferior individual. Neighborhood Mart s cheaper on EVERYTHING (including alcohol- $2 more at independence) and the service is far and away better

It's a liquor store that has a clean little kitchen area the philly is one of my favorites !

Whoever worked the kitchen at 7:30 pm and at least til 8:10 pm needs to never cook again at the store. I eat and love the food but he screwed up the order every way possible on a single hamburger (with ketchup and pickle)meal and a double cheeseburger(ketchup mustard and pickle)meal and an order of mushrooms. I received a single cheeseburger with mustard ketchup and pickle(no taste to it) with non seasoned fries(3/4 fries) and my husband received his correct sandwich (with 1/4 fry no seasoning) and fried pickle spears so had to wait around for the fried mushrooms instead like we ordered while our food got cold and fries got soggy! And I was supposed to get an orange Sunkist and got a strawberry lemonade Sunkist instead was already frustrated so it is what it is but won’t be getting food if he is ever cooking again! Just thought Owner should know! Have a nice day

Beware they out card in machine and they put more then what your order was like my sids 47 but ran it as 74 and multiple other ppl ok it's happened t so make sure you get

I stopped in on New Years Eve to kill two birds with one stone, a bottle of champagne for later and dinner on my way home. Champagne ✓. A few nice upscale choices. What knocked my socks off was the cheeseburger and fries. Good ingredients cooked up by a real short-order cook who knew his trade. This is no fast food joint that we've allowed ourselves to become accustomed to. I haven't had fries that good in years. The proprietor was as helpful as could be too.

I seen the a.m. clerk picking bad lettuce from what they serve with her bare hands...totally unsanitary. THEY OVER CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING DONT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SICK!

I bought snacks that were expired a few months ago and I bought some energy drinks at full price here on 10/15/23 and I looked at the bottom of the can and it says exp 06/10/23. I brought it to their attention and they said I can give you another one at half the price. I didn't want another one, I just wanted them to know that their products are expired. They then proceeded to check the dates on the cans and all the front facing ones were saying dates from June to July.How this store still passes inspections is beyond surprising.

Being it was family-owned by my grandfather for decades... When he decided to sell, he did his homework the owners now show the same great gratitude and service that my grandfather did.

Kid-friendliness: There's plenty of candy, and for parents to know that the candy isn't as expensive as other stores
