I give this place 1 star only for the food. I order a short rib plate (costillas de res plato) and when I opened it they literally gave me two slices of short rib that were about 5 inches long cut in half... so four 4 2.5 inc h pieces that, I kid you not, could fit into half of my palm & One piece was even smaller than that. No way someone put this $16.50 order in a box and thought it was acceptable. They themselves wouldn't find it acceptable. Its a joke that someone threw five pancake like tortillas, four small half pieces of short rib, watery vegetables, and a cup of flavorless rice & beans and called that a justifiable meal to serve to a customer for $16.50. There was 90% carbs, 5% bones, and 5% meat in my entire plate. The order took long too, which doesn't make sense for what they served me. It's a shock that this place has 4.5 stars it doesn't deserve. Do better and serve people food you'd want to eat. Taco bell is a better than this place smh.

Authentic, affordable, and downright delicious. Restaurant is in a tienda, so you eat your food surrounded by shelves of products that make you feel like you're in Mexico. Will definitely be back next time we're in Waterloo!

Authentic grocery, carnicería and Cafe with extensive authentic Mexican food. Had the Caldo de 7 mares and some tacos. Some of the best food I've had this side of the border. This place is a Waterloo gem.Parking: There are dedicated spots on the side of the building.

I had never heard of, let alone been to La Placita Taqueria until it was suggested to me by a family member recently. To say that it far exceeded my expectations is an understatement. For someone who doesn't speak a lick of Spanish, they were friendly, patient, and beyond helpful. The service was superb. I cannot recall ever having better Mexican food. Their prices are more than reasonable with very filling portions. I’ve since been back numerous times, and every time the food is hot and delicious. La Placita Taqueria is now one of my favorite places to eat.

Went for a quick lunch, was in and out in 25 minutes and ordered 2 lengua tacos. I had already eaten one when I remembered to take a picture. I had the salsa verde with my tacos and it wasn't really spicy. Definitely recommend if you are looking for authentic Mexican food.Kid-friendliness: Lots of families were there eating with their kids.
