Tavern Pizza & Pasta Grill

The Tavern’s pizza has been my favorite for years, however I hadn’t eaten there for several months. Today, I was served an impossibly thin crust pizza that could not support the sausage and onions topping. The sauce was undercooked and made the crust soggy. There was little seasoning and the sausage was bland. It was barely edible. I won’t even go into the stuffing coming out of the two-inch slit in the upholstery on the booth seat. If the food had been as good as it used to be, I would be able to overlook the dingy environment. I feel like I’ve lost an old friend, a former favorite restaurant.

It takes a lot of effort to screw up a pizza pie; but they nailed it. Effortlessly. At least the server was nice. We gave her a good tip. The draft beer was ok. I thought it was warm but my husband said it was fine.

Lunch. Ordered a Heineken 0.0, true no-alcohol beer. I hadn't had a drop of alcohol - not even cough syrup nor mouthwash - for over 16 yrs. The idiot brought out a full octane Heineken. I took a couple hearty slugs before I saw the label. That's on me. BUT I should never have been put in that position. My sobriety now has an asterisk. Permanently.

I took my son for dinner in May, the food was disappointing. Pizza wasn't very good and I didn't finish my pasta because it was gooey. The waitress was wonderful and very helpful.
I paid that night and figured we just wouldn't go here again.

Three months later they charged my card $80. I didn't know what this was (after I found out what the charge was I looked at my notes and the total was $56). I called and they said nonchalantly because of a system error the credit card company didn't charge the cards in May so they were charging them three months later.

I was livid! I had changed banks the month prior and just kept that account open for subscriptions. My account was overdrawn $160. I explained to the woman I spoke to and she did not even respond.

My bank ended up denying the charge as fraudulent because it had been over 60 days and the credit card agency never responded to the banks request for documentation.

When I called the restaurant back to explain and pay what our bill was the woman who answered was unhelpful to the point of almost rude. She said "well I don't know how you would pay that now" Then she kept asking if I had a returned check, even though I said no she said I would have to pay a returned check fee!

I wasted 30 minutes for someone to tell me I needed to pay my bill plus a return check fee when I didn't even have anything returned. This was 100% their error!

I found out later from a coworker this happened to a family member of her's as well. She was billed three months later! Her bank also flagged it as fraud.

Also never did explain why I was being charged $80 when my bill was $50something!

I don't know what kind of scam they have going on, but I will tell everyone I know to NOT go to this restaurant.

I love this place, it's right down the street, good for good prices and an atmosphere like you won't believe, used to come here as a kid all the time after Black Friday shopping with my parents and to this day will be my favorite restaurant of all time

Never had such a greasy pizza ever had this issue before but thought try again after couple years and yuck won't go back

Best deal for lunch with several options to choose from. I went for the lunch pizza with one topping and got a salad and drink. I will be back!!

One of the only spots all of kids and all of the adults in our family agree on. It’s kid friendly, tons of menu options, food is consistently great, service is friendly.
