Heard about it from a friend My buddy and I do Thursday lunch together and so we headed to winterset and we had one of the best meals in our lives 😋 French onion soup brucetta pasta with meatballs (as great as my Italian mom) sauce from heaven and creme bruelle and a bread pudding the size of the prudential rock with vanilla ice cream Heather was professional and entertaining everyone was first class the guys in the kitchen some of the best ever 👌

We ate lunch for the first time yesterday. Urban has a small but varied to lunch menu. My salad with a 3oz piece of salmon was delicious. My spouse enjoyed a similar salad but with chicken. A wine selection is available. Server Kacie was attentive and pleasant. Urban is a good addition in Winterset.

This quaint little restaurant on the square in Winterset was a great find to start our short trip to Iowa. My steak sandwich was delicious! My husband really enjoyed his Reuben with side of French onion soup. The desserts I. The case looked very tempting but we were too stuffed to try them.

Stopped in on a trip through Winterset on our way to Des Moines. Urban on the Square was right off the main road through town and lives up to its name! The restaurant was right in the square across from the County Courthouse. We were able to secure curb parking right outside and were met with an urban but inviting interior. I believe our server was new/in training but that didn’t dampen the great service we received while we indulged in appetizers, entrees and even desserts. Their serving sizes were oversized, considering we were there for lunch. Their desserts especially we could have easily split one among the four of us present. Overall, the experience was great and we would definitely dine there again if we’re in the area!

We went out for Valentine Dinner last Friday and chose Urban on the Square which we had been to before. Our experience was not good this time. We were greeted with "The Chef called in sick so we don't have the Beef Wellington. we started with Calimari as an appetizer and found it to be slightly undercooked but tasty however, it was probably 1/3 smaller in portion than the last time we ordered it. My wife ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad which she has enjoyed in the past however, the dressing has changed since the previous visit and was not a good Caesar presentation. I ordered the Mahi Mahi on the menu and was informed that it was not available so I ordered the Steak DeBurgo and found it to be tough and low flavored. The sweet potato fries were tasty. I had the French Onion soup which had good flavor but was so salty I could barely eat it. We then ordered the Creme Brule for desert and it was just on the edge of being burnt. Color was dark and my wife would not eat it, said it was "Bitter". Waitress mentioned she was the Manager's Daughter and gave us a sprinkling of "Attitude" along with our less than acceptable dining experience. Sad appraisal overall, you have the potential to have a Great Restaurant but, these kinds of missteps can "Kill" an eating establishment.

For lunch we had steak tacos, shrimp tacos, and a steak sandwich. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the sweet potato fries were to die for!! We'll be back for dinner soon!

We had a lovely company Christmas party in the upstairs area of Urban on the Square last weekend, and everyone in attendance absolutely loved it! The food was beyond delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and fun, and the staff were kind and accommodating. We're so grateful to everyone involved for making our company party easy to plan, memorable, and special!

We eat the restaurant weekly and love it. It’s so nice having this option in Winterset. We recently rented their new upstairs space and had them cater food. It was wonderful. Plenty of food, delicious, well-hosted all in a beautiful setting overlooking the courthouse!

Date night out in Winterset and decided to try this restaurant we had just seen and we figured we’d give it a shot as we’ve tried just about every other place in town. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and drinks. First off the seasonal drinks we had were delicious and properly poured. I had the white chocolate Russian and my husband had the spiced honey old fashion, we had seconds yuuum! The appetizer was wonderfully made. I love crab rangoons and their inside out rangoons were amazing!! Best I’ve ever had! Now to the entrees, we had 6oz sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes, a Cesar salad and the other chicken with brussel sprouts over risotto. Both entrees were made to order and fabulous. For dessert we shared the crème brûlée and just the perfect ending to an outstanding dining experience. Ashley was our server and she was super friendly and most accommodating. Everything was on point. Never would have thought we’d find this caliber of dining in our quaint town. We will definitely be return especially if we are entertaining family and friends on the town or just another date night out. Thanks for a night to remember and more to come.
