We booked a private party with Amsterdam last night for our wedding after party. Our best man continually had to kick people out of the private space we had rented. When we asked management (Ethan) if they could keep a closer eye on who got back there so we didn’t have to worry about it on our wedding night. Ethan’s answer was “Well you didn’t pay for extra security so it’s too bad”. When my husband (because it was our WEDDING!!) was getting upset and asking why that option was never presented to him, Ethan said “I’m done talking to you” and walked away. Keep in mind we put money down on the bar and purchased a $500 bottle of champagne we never got. I was so disappointed and it ruined our after party as we soon left because of how we were treated by management. Our server, Maya, stated she was shocked at how we were treated by Ethan as well. Maya was absolutely awesome and we greatly appreciated her service and how she treated us. As someone who is in customer service I was beyond baffled by how we were treated by management specifically. I have left very few reviews in my life but last night warranted a response. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone.

This is getting one star due to there lost and program routine. If your out drinking with your friends and bringing your money to businesses you should be taken care of. If you lose something here, strange love , roddys, etc you have to pick it up, during the week, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2pm. Not Friday at 8 pm when I'm standing right there. So now I have to take time off work because I couldn't be handed my keys where I left them. I'd post some signage warning people before they come in because I lose things all the time when I drink I dont want to go to a business that makes it hard to retrieve those things. Service was terrible too because when I told the dude he just looked at me with the 3 brain cells he had left and shrugged, customer service is dying.

The Amsterdam, much ballyhooed, takes pains to be a first-class operation, making a thrilling and safe night possible. The suited bouncers, earpieces buzzing, stand like sentinels at the door—Boise’s take on a big-city club.
ELITE shout-out to hilarious web-site. Note the stated dress code (no athletic gear, backpacks etc) and the photo of the dweeb in a goddam baseball cap. LOL.. the hero gives us hope that even WE can land a table with 3 beauties..
Suit up! Club it up! But… who’s doing the ballyhooing?

First time in there, bartenders ignored me in favor of other patrons for about 15 mins until I left.

Our recent experience at Amsterdam Lounge was deeply disappointing and frankly unacceptable. Our family and friends were out to celebrate our daughters graduation from BSU this past Saturday. My daughter, who is of legal age to enter the establishment and possesses a Real ID (required to board airlines, or enter federal facilities, military bases and national laboratories) was not only denied entry but had her ID taken away from her after the doorman wrongly suspected it was fraudulent. Rather than using proper verification procedures of the many holographic imbeded hallmarks or showing even basic professionalism, the doorman confiscated her legal government-issued ID and told her we’d need to find a police officer to prove it was real in order to get it back. This is not only unreasonable, but what likely could be construed theft by unlawful taking. Both myself and my wife engaged with the employee, stating it was our daughter and attempted to show him our similar IDs for comparison. He couldn't be bothered to look at them and said we needed to move aside so he could let other people in. No one, especially not this doorman, has the authority to retain someone’s legal identification. The situation created an unnecessary and public embarrassment for my daughter, as she was treated like a criminal in front of her friends and other patrons.
Making matters worse was Ted Challengers ( the owner’s) reaction to the situation. After returning the next business day to speak to him personally to express my concerns and frustration, he showed zero accountability or empathy. Instead of offering an apology or making an effort to address the situation at the meeting, he brushed it off as if this is standard operating procedure at his establishment by showing me a stack of ID's which had been confiscated. I have given him several days to review the events with staff, video and ID scans he said he needed to look at and contact me back. At the time of writing this, I have not been contacted with any resolution to the complaint. It's truly a shame when a patron offers the opportunity for a business to address a problem and be met with disregard so I'll simply let this review be my shared experience with the business and warn future potential patrons that if you value respectful treatment and any customer service, I'd strongly recommend choosing another venue. There are plenty of places in Boise that won’t humiliate the patrons or treat serious concerns with what I felt was blatant indifference and a sense of self-righteousness of staff and ownership.
***Response to Owner***
Your response has solidfied the impression I was left with after meeting with you: a lack of genuine care, zero accountability in the customer experience, all reflective of a low bar of standards and professionalism set from the top.
Vibes were solid for a dead Friday night—chill crowd, decent energy. Came in craving an espresso martini, and man… I wish I hadn’t. The drink missed the mark completely, and when I asked if it could be fixed, the bartender wasn’t having it: “That’s what you ordered…” (not even close, but alright). So I did what I was raised to do and thugged it out. Might swing by again, but I’ll be sticking to the classics next time—lesson learned.

We were in town for my niece's bachelorette party. We stopped here on a beer bike and for a night out. We loved it. Espresso martinis are so good here! We also had the champagne sparkler. The place was packed and we were able to find a nice spot for our large group. The servers were really nice and took good care of us.
