Their web site is confusing. We love Kin but just wanted something easy after a day of prepping for Thanksgiving. I looked at the bar menu and saw that there was a “speakeasy” experience called Ampersand that appeared to be part of the bar. We checked in at the bar and ordered a cocktail and a glass of red wine. One of the bartenders was fairly occupied chatting with a buddy and the other bartender seemed to be focused elsewhere (maybe he was waiting the bar tables). I asked a few questions to understand what the process was for Ampersand (the web site says to check in to the bar 15 minutes before your reservation). I asked for clarification about ordering food in Ampersand... no food. We asked about ordering a bottle of wine for Ampersand and apparently you can't do that. We decided we'd go up to see the room and come back down to the bar for food. I had a Blanton's and my wife had water (we normally drink red wine). We thanked the bartender and paid for the drink (it was the second bill of the night as apparently you have to clear your check before moving rooms). We got on the elevator and there was the weirdest keypad I have ever seen with 1-9 running from the top across and down and a zero on bottom row by itself. I pushed 1 and rode down to a floor that didn't appear to have access to the bar. We saw a security guard who told us we needed to go out of the building and down the steps to the entrance we originally came through to get into the bar. Confused and hungry we walked across the street to our car and drove to Percy where we had a great dinner and bottle of wine. We will try the food in the bar again because I believe in second chances, especially give the good meals that we have enjoyed at Kin. Unlikely to do Ampersand again as the room was not like any speakeasy I have been to. Perhaps on a sunny day the view might've worth it. Anyway, I was really hoping for a better experience. Maybe it was just an off night in a confusing setting.

Great cocktails mixed by Sebastian with outstanding views from 14th floor. Highly recommended.

Really liked the personalized attention and custom made to order drinks! Excellent views of downtown lights too.

Entrance like something from “Severance” - which doesn't set the mood for a speakeasy. Bright bar spot lights shining in our faces. Every time the curtain opened to the space - more bright hall lights shinning in. Bar tender couldn't make a “Manhattan” or “White Russian”. Too inexperienced, and without thr products. My party had to send back a “Moscow Mule” & “Gin & Tonic” do to poor flavor. View windows so dirty from bar lights - couldn't see the advertised “View”. I was embarrassed & disappointed to have brought my out-of-town guests here for a birthday celebration (no free or discounted over birthday drink). “One only gets one chance to make a first impression”

Savannah was FANTASTIC!! She was super attentive and made sure our drinks were made to perfection! Staff at Kin were extremely helpful and food was very good, too. The only thing that would've improved the experience was for the music in The Ampersand to have been at a lower volume. My fault that I didnt ask.

Cool & quaint with an unbeatable view! There is no menu which the adventure - Savannah provided us some awesome cocktails based on our preference

We've been to KIN and Art Haus many times, but this was our first visit to Ampersand. It was fun! The space is intimate and the view spectacular. The bartender did an excellent job of concocting custom cocktails for each of us. It's definitely worth a visit. We finished off the evening with food and drinks at the Art Haus, enjoying their expanded menu.

Intimate experience with an amazing view. Each cocktail was meticulously created per taste of person at table. Each cocktail was an experience and enjoyed.

They don't serve food so that's why it says poor value. My husband and friends and I went there at 9 o'clock and were quickly escorted up there which was great. But it felt a little overcrowded because there were 12 people in a space design for 10. The part we didn't like was the checkout experience. It shows you the price then it shows you up charges and it just seems awkward instead of just having a set price. The one complaint about our bartender is that the bartender was extremely knowledgeable but not personable. My husband ordered one of the more expensive whiskeys, neat. She let us know that it was a $37 drink, but as she poured my husband a large jigger, she flipped it over and did a short jigger and took that shot herself. I've been to plenty of bars and restaurants where employees have taken a quick drink, but it seemed awkward for her to take a half shot or jigger of something we were paying $37 for.

Really fun experience. Small setting. Expect to converse with the other guests. No drink menu. Tell the tender what flavors you like and he makes you something unique.

Jean Pierre is brilliant and will make everything you think of in your glass better than you could imagine in your mind.

Unique and beautiful cocktail experience! I loved the intimate setting and how personalized it felt. A perfect place for a small group of friends to get to know each other with a beautiful view of the city. 11/10!

What an amazing view and fabulous drinks! We loved everything about coming here and I am so happy it's the one place I planned to take my bestie visiting from Texas! The mixologist was amazing! Tiny and intimate... love it!

We had a great time here. The service was out of this world and super friendly. I felt like they really wanted to help us. We had a large group and everyone had a great time. The drinks were good, the seating comfortable, and music was perfect. I was very impressed that the girl taking our order (8 of us) never wrote down a thing. But every one of our orders, including some food orders, were correct and tasted perfect. While your there, ask about their elevated cocktails..another experience all its own! I could not recommend another bar in Boise higher than Art Haus Bar. Thanks for the great night!

I've now visited Kin a number of times and it is exceptional each and every time. Doesn't get better – food, service, art, music, ambiance, the entire program is very well done. Consistently.
