We had the most horrible experience ever at this establishment last night. The place was extremely busy and when we arrived there were several people standing in front of the door. We read the sign and talked to very nice locals who explained how the seating worked. We went to the bar and ordered drinks. The bar tender was extremely friendly and the drinks were great. The problem was with one of the waiters who told us after we had been there for almost an hour that there were not going to be any tables available for us (group of five). He said we could not stand there anymore, as it was breaking fire codes. The whole time we were there there had been others standing in the same place. We were not blocking the entrance and people were able to come in and out. There were others standing right where we were standing. This waiter did not speak to any of them. He told us to leave and tried to take our drinks from us. Never have we been treated so rudely and we have traveled and dined in many restaurants.

6 small tacos around $50. Insane. Will never go back.

Website said they’re not accepting orders and a phone call went unanswered. They’re either understaffed or unprofessional. I was there a year ago and the food was good but it was spendy.

Unsure what to make of the place because my family was denied entrance because our newborn child isn’t 21 or older. I understand 21 and up. But not admitting us because of a 4 day old child? That is new to me. Wish I could rate higher, but will never know!

There doesn’t appear to be an option to “reply” to owners response, so I am editing this review to say that I don’t believe it is unlawful to allow persons under 21 from entering a bar that serves food, provided that underage person is accompanied by an adult and seated is a section outside the primary bar area (like the patio in this case). I suggest Barrio reviews the Idaho statute and adjust their policy. There aren’t enough restaurants in SE Boise to be limiting us parents. Ugh!

Cute place with fun vibe. Loved the Barrio Margarita and chip dip trio. The blackened shrimp tacos were excellent! Happy hour prices too

You’ll spend $50 for $10 worth of food. Drinks were good but spendy. Was surprising how expensive food was for what you got.

Kai was so attentive and pleasant to talk to. He served my drinks very promptly and boy were they delicious. The staff excels in generosity, charisma and knowledge. Best Tequila bar in town!

HORRIBLE experience at Barrio at Bown Crossing this afternoon. I’ve been there twice before and gotten the chicken and bean/corn street tacos. Both of which were not very good (the chicken was very overcooked both times and the beans were fairly bland), but the drinks, guac, and service were good so I decided to give their other menu items a try.

I have a diagnosed gluten allergy (luckily not life-threatening, but serious nonetheless) and asked our server if the tortillas on the specialty tacos were corn. She said yes. I then specifically asked if they were gluten free and she said yes. The food was brought out and I took a couple bites and thought the tortillas seemed chewier than I’m used to. I asked her if she was sure if they were corn, she went to check, and then came back and very casually said that they are a flour and corn blend with a lackluster “sorry about that”. She then said she’d “stop eating them if I were you” and started to walk away. No offer to bring something different, no sincere apology for serving someone a food they are allergic to. I asked her if she could have them remade on corn tortillas and she tried to talk me out of it, but I asked that she see if the kitchen could accommodate that. She then brought out the tacos on corn tortillas and it was clear that they had used the filling from my previous tacos and put them on new tortillas. She said she “personally watched the cooks remake them”, but the shrimp was cold and the toppings were mixed in. My husband then tried to have her understand how serious it is to not double check on allergens when customers ask, and she said “yeah I got it” and walked away. Luckily my allergy won’t kill me, but this could’ve been so much worse for someone with a life-threatening allergy. She did not care, she didn’t double check when asked about the ingredients, she didn’t try to make things right, and she wasn’t honest when I asked to have food made that I could eat. A mistake about an ingredient is awful, but accountability goes a long way towards rectifying a situation. She showed zero remorse or accountability. She was by far the worst server I can remember having, and I would not recommend Barrio for anyone who has allergies or wants their food prepared in a safe manner.

Mediocre cocktails, too much mixer for what they cost - mediocre service, they expect 18-22% for dropping off drinks without any table presents or menu expertise - atmosphere is just mediocre too, too bright and would be awful if it was full because tables are so close together

Have been to Barrio several times because we enjoy the atmosphere and the cocktails. But EVERY time we come the service is terrible. I think we wait long enough between visits that we forget. OWNERS- pleeeeaase hire more servers!! It’s a shame that such a great place is ruined by just being too busy for the staff. Currently have been here for one hour and have had one cocktail. Still waiting for our food or even order another cocktail. I want to love this place.

It has certainly improved since they took away the app ordering. However, they play very loud music that is hard to talk to anyone.. some of which makes you feel like you're in a night club at 6pm.. it feels out of place.

Food is 50/50 small portions and high price. Nothing is listed if it can be GF or not. (Really hope you'll make these adjustments).

Service is ok. Although no one seems to really know much about the mezcal or tequila they are serving. So if you're going for a tasting experience (like us)... you may not get that...
