Normally we go for breakfast and it's great. Their dinner staff was slow, the food was cold. We stick to breakfast from now on.

This last Sunday, I took my family out to eat at the Black Bear Diner on State Street. It was not crowded and had plenty of servers available. We were a party of 5 and assigned our table. Waited 20 minutes for service that never arrived. Got up and asked a waitress if we could give our order. A short time later, another waitress took our order and brought us drinks. Waited another 20 minutes for our food. Again, it was not busy at all. Manager came to table and apologized but was very snooty. After finishing, waitress offered us free dessert. We accepted, and we all ordered. After a few minutes, she returned and told us that the manager is willing to offer only 2 free desserts and we would have to pay for the other 3. I still left a 20% tip.

Vegetarian options: I'm not 100percent sure about the menu, but I asked the workers and they said all you have to do is ask and they will make great vegetarian dishes. I trust the and their food. We eat out a lot, even expensive places, but I his place is a restaurant that has a lot of comfort food and it's delicious. Everyone is super nice and I love that the manager is a super nice guy and he must work a lot in his restaurant,vi don't know him only by coming here. He is almost always there and he makes you feel like family. He has amazing beard and he told me he plays Santa Claus and has for many years. That totally touched my heart anyone who takes the time to be Santa has to have a great heart and you can tell the first time you meet him he does.

Parking: Huge parking is amazing.

Kid-friendliness: It's wonderful decorated in the cutest black bears. It even has a tree made out of wood with a bear and the kids can sit inside and get their picture taken.

Wheelchair accessibility: It's great

Took 45 minutes to get our food. 3 adults 2 kids. Beverages were forgotten. Kid's food was brought out 5 minutes after everyone else got theirs. They were out of several menu items at 1pm. Some orders were not filled correctly. For how expensive this family restaurant is, they really can't afford a 45 minute order-to-food wait time with poor service.

5 other tables that were seated well after us got their food before ours.

The service was quite slow, and we seemed to be forgotten as everyone else was served before us. We had to ask twice about our meal and had to get their attention to get our drinks. The food was not well-prepared, with overcooked eggs and hash browns.

Haven’t had any food yet but I can tell you that this place smells like a porta potty. The bathroom is even worse and I’m guessing the smell originated from there. But it was repulsing.
