Sakana Japanese sushi bar and grill(Garden City)

I am so disappointed to write this review as the meridian location was one of my favorite places to eat , but the State Street location gave me VIOLENT FOOD POISONING. I ordered the chicken hibachi which was very tasty but I was I'll for about a week in extreme gastro distress. Me and my ex would also always get mild gastro issues at other locations but chalked it up to the type of food it was ...not this time. Will not be returning unfortunately.

Not much in the way of atmosphere, but oh MAN, do they have a great sushi-and-sashimi platter! My new favorite sushi? Their Hana Roll!

Really enjoyed the food. I've had their dollar sushi on Mondays and Tuesdays. But when I had dinner there, wow! Good stuff. Great service and great food. 10/10 will go back.

The sushi is not much better or fresh tasting than what you can get at a grocery store. I'm definitely not going back but the service was decent.

Was not what we expected. The fried rice had no flavor and was cold. I did like the prime rib steak used for my meal, it just had too much sauce. It was our first time there and we won't be going back. The staff was friendly.

The one and only time I ate here the sushi made me totally sick- as in extreme gastro problems. There were a few red flags I should have heeded: the fish was sitting directly on the metal bottom of the cooler. At least use a styrofoam tray if you aren't going to have a bed of ice oke you're supposed to. In addition, I ordered something the chef didn't have in the sushi cooler; So he gets it from the back and opens it from a bag, poured out a bunch of liquid and sliced my fish...Normally fish is allowed to cold-dry in the cooler in order for the texture and taste to be maximized. At least wipe it with something absorbent so it isn't slimy when you serve it to me. These people obviously didn't know what they were doing.

Dollar sushi is cool but hire more servers. Sushi is great but the last 3 times I've been here there is horrible service. If you can't keep servers it's a problem with management. Your lifetime regulars are very upset. The one server this time was so overwhelmed she was sprinting around everywhere and it lacked MAJOR service needs. Please let us love you again!

Fantastic place to eat! They have a ton of options at a great price. They even made special, custom rolls for me. I was very impressed!

Clean place and amazing service. Honestly, the staff treats you so nicely and the food is good if you like sushi.
