We went out for a beer and some food— We were not disappointed. Our waitress, Erin, and the bartender, Bradford, were both fantastic. The food came out quickly, and we enjoyed every bite—especially the arancini. The beers were great and reasonably priced.
Love having Sockeye as our neighborhood spot! The food is great, drinks are delicious, but the best part is the staff! Everyone is so kind and very fun. They keep us coming back!
The fish and chips are always amazing on Friday night. I had the French dip last week and it too was outstanding. The revamped menu and vibe are fantastic. I am always happy to see John, Erin, and Bradford and appreciate their genuine kindness at every interaction. We always have good discussions and I so appreciate them.
We tried the remodeled restaurant about 2 weeks ago and I have to say the improvements were fantastic. The menu previously was fine, all the pub standards but now, with the new menu, the quality of food has gone way up- they mentioned they had a new chef and he seems to have a good handle on it.
My family had the arancini, the salmon burger (it was huge and soooooo delicious), the cheeseburger, the dip and a baked potato and all were delicious!
One point that I felt was lacking previously was the service and it couldn’t have been more different or better on this visit. Our server was clearly well acquainted with the menu, gave awesome recommendations and was available to ask for more beers and condiments without having to wait.
I definitely encourage anyone who hasn’t had the best experience to give it another try. It really feels like a different restaurant.
Good bar food and beer.
I had the honor of attending the soft re-opening at Sockeye Alehouse on 36th. A revamped menu with a great vibe. They are currently back open for business.
We had a great time. The beer is always spot on. The Powerhouse Porter is a personal favorite. The Salmon dinner was definitely the shining star. A nice bite of salmon with wilted spinach and dipped in the lemon butter sauce hit just right. Hannah was a delightful server with great suggestions and prompt seevice. The ambiance is bright and lively. We can't wait for patio season. We'll see you again soon!
We live in the nearby Sunset neighborhood, and we absolutely love this place! It has something for everyone and has CONSISTENTLY GOOD food, beer, and staff. LOVE the location and the recent revamp of the space only improved upon a good-looking interior with lots of light and options for seating and watching sports.
I have recently seen some negative reviews, and I get that everyone is entitled to their opinions, but we completely disagree and so do most of my neighbors and friends! We don’t have very many places to go in this area. Period.
Sockeye is a locally owned pillar of Boise beer. Let’s support the great gathering space that this restaurant provides!! Sockeye for the win!
Various changes made with the restructure including the menu, seating, happy hour, and staffing . Sockeye Alehouse has always been a little pocket of a gem in NW Boise. Unfortunately, the new menu and change in atmosphere has dampened those standards. Might be a good option if you want to stop in for a quick beer ! ):
This review is for the Hill Road location. Service was good. Good selection of Sockeye beer. Limited menu. Food was not very good. Dining area was cramped and loud. We will not go back to the Hill road location
Cole Road Salmon salad was spot on! Service was prompt.

I truly enjoyed my meal, and the service was exceptional! I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this wonderful place. They really care about their customers!
I live in the area and would come often IF even a few of the following were true:
1) the service was good (rude hostesses on multiple occasions)
2) the hours were good for watching sporting events or a date night (they close by 9pm, even on weekends - what? and they don't have NFL sunday ticket. Really cheap move for a brewpub)
3) the food was good (the only thing worth getting are the fries. Even the quality of their pretzels - something that should be EASY to do - has gone down and not worth the price)
4) the beer was good (so much better beer in Boise... sockeye beer is just generally not good)
5) kids were allowed in the mini golf area
6) there was a bigger area for meeting people to better enjoy things like trivia nights or hanging with a group. It's really strangely setup to be basically a restaurant, with not much space for actual interaction outside of a seated meal. Very strange for a brewery/brewpub atmosphere, especially one in a neighborhood.
So we don't go. It's disappointing because the location is great and within walking distance.
Great beer is expected - hey, it's Sockeye. And the beer is great! But the food -phenomenal! I had the salmon strips tonight - just outstanding!
Solid food and beer options, fun setting.
