This was second time here for an afternoon tea- this time was as lovely as the last. The reservation process? Awesome, via OpenTable, & easily confirmed both afternoon teas needed to be gluten free. The reception? Welcoming! We had option of stairs or elevator. SO appreciated that option! Was having lower pain day so took the stairs, & enjoyed every ounce of ambiance in the way upstairs! Table? Perfectly situated in a sunny window, quieter area- just as requested! Tablescape? Simple & high quality. Really nice touch to have well weighted silverware. Tea selection? A plethora, far beyond standard blah. And our gluten free tray of goodies, though a bit sparse looking in presentation, was all high quality & balanced flavors to perfection. And they were ever so kind to provide complimentary drinks... as they'd been running a tinge behind... so my guest & I enjoyed the most delightful mocktail w/huckleberry shrub... made fully from scratch in house. I will not be waiting 2 years between visits again. I have to say... by far far my fav afternoon tea experience in Treasure Valley (& yes l've done several others, several times ea, at establishments well known in area... left very disappointed every time. ***So having two excellent experiences at The Lively says a lot*** Elegance without pretense, charm without hype. Just my vibe! (That said, yes it's true our waiter didn't seem fully engaged in the experience, & yes it's true I only got one hot water refill (in the tiny tiny kettle) but I think we all know that's probably more about a bit short staffed which happens anywhere, to the best, & I do know they had big wedding reception at venue after our tea seating... & I had reserved the last seating time)

Our server was excellent. My food was not as ordered. He quickly replaced it and took it off our bill.

The portion size was so so tiny. I had a pasta that was gone in three bites. My date had a fish that didn't have a lot of flavor. It was so expensive for the quantity and quality of food. I prefer the old/original menu and experience. Both have changed. Service was great.

Jayden was a fantastic server. We came on a Thursday evening and enjoyed a quiet dinner with fantastic food. Will definitely come again!

I will start by saying this is our go to Date Spot! We love the space, the service here is awesome every time...such a great spot, love it! New menu this trip and I will have to say I was disappointed with the fish options...this was Sea Bass (perhaps)...but was what seems to be flash fried in oil at a very high temperature. The result in that was a dry and crispy flesh...the salad that was with the fish was not really a salad. It was a mix of viny greens which were very bitter and unpalatable...so $30 for some overcooked fish. Not complaining, this is a great restaurant, great date night spot for a special dinner...just don't order the fish! KT

Probably the worst dining experience I've ever had at lively. Our waiter was the worst, uncaring, annoyed waiter. I had the worst sea bass I've ever had, pan fried to oblivion and most of it was a gross tail.

We celebrated our anniversary here, and it was perfect. The restaurant even surprised us with a complimentary dessert. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Every dish was beautifully presented, making the entire meal a delight for the eyes and the palate. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming, with soft music and beautiful decor, except the lighting in the room could have been brighter.

Our first time for afternoon tea and it was very nice. They were having issues with their oven on this particular day so things weren't baked as well as expected. I would imagine it was just a o e time issue and we look forward to trying it again in the future.

This is now my number one restaurant to go to in the Tresure Valley. Great service, food and staff. Will be going back many times.

Didn’t note on their website that they closed the bar tonight, we drove all the way down to go there and they laughed that bummer you would have enjoyed it. Sadly not great customer service at all.

Great food and service, my wife had the Denver steak but my hot pastrami was most popular for us. A little pricy for two people but service and atmosphere make up for some of that. Would go again for sure.

Lovely dining experience. We are new residents of the Boise area...our granddaughter decided to pamper us with a welcome gift of dinner at The Lively. An exquisite evening, starting in the downstairs bar for Happy Hour and then our dining server escorted us upstairs for our meal. Drinks are spectacular, food is wonderful, and the service - both downstairs and upstairs - was somehow even better. We have a new #1 special dining favorite.
