Great atmosphere, not so great food :( it has so much potential to be delish but everything we ordered was lacking. It all felt undersalted, oversweetened, and poorly cooked. The brats looked boiled and lacked browning, and the sticky toffee pudding was dry. The fondue burger was reminiscent of in-n-out with a thicker patty but not well seasoned. Even putting some pickles on it would have helped cut the sweetness. Cucumber Jolie mocktail I ordered was just horrible. Tasted only muddled cucumber and simple syrup. Service was great and the attendants were attentive but just A lot of style over substance here, unfortunately. Would not recommend.

The drinks were OK. The music was so obnoxious we didn't stay for a second round. Nobody in the place was under 40, so the cranked up urban thug rap was totally wrong.

We went to have drinks on a Tuesday around 9pm. The drinks were expensive and poorly made. $22 for an old fashion with premium alcohol $4 upgrade fee.and $17 for a Martinez. Both were very difficult to endure the Old Fashion was overpowered by orange juice and I can’t really describe the Martinez in words.

For the discerning fish & chip people, this is the best I’ve had in a while. The batter is light and crispy but not greasy at all, and the fish underneath is meaty and substantial. Everything else was solid but the fish was above and beyond.

Great location with really cool old timey structure and bar. Entrance is literally off an alley.

Went there for happy hour and had great service. Kind of a bit of a speakeasy feel. Had great service. Got the gin version of the espresso martini which was great. Posting a picture that has what I got at the top of the menu ;-) This is only about a third of the things they have on special for their happy hour. Attached to a English pub style restaurant .. you can order from their menu if you want :-)

Went to Tiners Alley for our 30th wedding anniversary, we are from England and liked the look of the menu. I had the fish and chips; not good, and where were the mushy peas? and no pickled onions. The small fish had sat in the water too long before cooking it. The chips should have been fried in hotter oil. My husband’s meatloaf sandwich had much to be desired, very disappointing. Maybe Cal should take another trip to London to refresh his cooking abilities. The waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable about the decor, and restaurant. A Union Jack flag would be nice 👍 🇬🇧

Stopped for a drink while waiting for our table in the restaurant. The bar itself is lovely, and the atmosphere was cozy. I was surprised at how dark and dim the lighting was tho, especially coming in from the brightly lit front area. Loved the gimlet! I need to find those bitters!

5 stars for cool atmosphere and having mannys beer on tap. Wish more bars had mannys on tap in Boise.

Tiner’s Alley has all the makings of a great English pub—warm wood tones, and a menu that promises classic fare. Unfortunately, it falls short where it matters most: service and execution.

We stopped in for a quick pint of Guinness. The bartender greeted us and mentioned it’d be a few minutes, which was no problem. The issue? Instead of offering a drink while we waited, he spent 10 minutes stocking the bar while we sat there with nothing. When he finally got to us, we were given an enthusiastic rundown of how perfect their Guinness pour is. The build-up was stronger than the result.

Feeling a bit hungry, we decided to order a basket of fries and Welsh rarebit. With only a few other guests in the place, it should’ve been a quick order. Instead, we watched the bartender focus on crafting an elaborate cocktail while the kitchen’s order-up bell rang in the distance. The rest of the staff stood nearby chatting up one another.

When the food arrived, the presentation looked promising, but the execution was disappointing. The rarebit was barely warm, and the fries were soft, soggy, and desperately in need of a proper fry technique. A scattering of thyme seemed like an attempt at sophistication, but it didn’t fix the texture issue. A simple double-fry method would have made a world of difference, especially at $9 for a basket.

Tiner’s Alley has the right atmosphere and ambition, but it falls short where it counts—service, food quality, and overall experience. The prices suggest a higher standard than what’s actually delivered, making it feel more like style over substance. There’s potential here, but until they refine the details, it seems they’re more focused on looking like a pub than truly feeling like one.

A unique gastropub experience behind The Avery hotel. Great craft cocktails served over Boise's oldest Brunswick bar, providing a historic and cozy atmosphere.

Guests can enjoy a game of pool by the fireplace while savoring expertly crafted cocktails and elevated English pub favorites.

A fun place to enjoy after work.

Last night was the third and probably the last time that I will visit Tiners in Boise. The first time was a great experience with five other friends meaning two couples each. there’s not a lot of seating so we all sat at the bar and enjoyed our appetizers, food and drinks.

knowledgeable wait staff everyone was friendly and the drinks and food were delicious.

The second visit I paid was to watch a friend perform on a weekday evening. Again we had a party of six and with limited seating we were trying to find a spot to sit while while our friends performed. the entire south wall are lined with barstools. You’d assume you can sit there. The hostess informed us that we were not allowed to sit there. There was no one sitting there, why do you have bar stools there? While we dispersed our party at the main bar and had our food and drink separately until we could be seated together it rubbed me the wrong way. The hostess was just adamant about seating for some reason.

Last night, a rainy Saturday at 5pm it was the same hostess with the dark hair. I’m not sure of her name. A friend and I arrived at 5pm, The bar was not busy and I noticed a couple just preparing to leave their corner booth table. Perfect ! We waited for a moment and the same host as said “just allow me a minute to clear off the table” and we waited until she returned and cleared it off. Super! My friend and I were seated and immediately greeted with water and menus, which was great. The rest of our party arrived, which was just two other women And they were seated.
immediately the hostess approached us and said this table should only be a three seater you may be more comfortable on the sofa. I informed her that we were going to be eating dinner and having drinks and that we were fine being cozy in the corner together. We did not feel overcrowded. I’m really not sure what is going on with this person and her having control over where we are seated. We enjoyed our burgers and a couple of cocktails and Sophie our waitress, was wonderful. However at 6:25 she informed us that our table had a reservation for it at 7 o’clock, and we would need to be on our way. That solidified my feelings about returning. Too bad because the atmosphere is cool. The happy hour is OK but the staff is just a little bit uppity for my taste. I don’t get it.
