Closed & empty. Despite their sign the new owners are not making any solid attempt to open a restaurant. Bad on yelp to show it as open.

IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS. This place feels like home. It's a mom and pop diner that has the best home made Jam ever. The staff is always friendly and I have never had an of the experiences many people have listed. I come and visit my sister who lives in mountain home and we drive to Boise just for the diner. The toilet seat in the women's bathroom is also the coolest thing I've ever seen so go enjoy and tip your servers!!!!

Super good food if you like to wait 45 mins for 2 eggs some hash browns and toast that was cold. I’m only down in Boise every once in awhile and I will not be coming to this place again.

It didn't seem that busy but the service was not great. They forgot our drinks until the bill was paid. Bacon was rubbery and half cooked. Fruit cup had moldy fruit. They overcooked my eggs and undercooked my aunts. Won't be back

Great quant little restaurant. Patio was closed but it looks like a great spot to take the dogs during warm weather. French toast was delicious and the hashbrowns were perfectly crispy!

yeah my friend got hired here in the past month and only a few weeks later they fired them along with everyone else! no warning AT ALL. i just wanted to bring light to the fact this company completely fucked over multiple ppl lives. how are they gonna pay rent, bills etc when u hire ppl with the intent that they're gonna keep this job for as long as possible. and then not even 3 weeks later fire them at the end of their shit completely out of the blue with not a single warning of the situation. when the entire time they could have all been looking for a job so they had a plan for when they would be let go. instead they just got kicked to the curb and thrown into a very shit situation with no explanation at all.

20 minute wait to get drinks and menus, another 35 minutes for food to come out. Food wasn't what's described in the menu and then the card reader doesn't work so cash only, which no one knew until after they'd ordered. New owners though s maybe this is just growing pains

Don't know why this diner has been getting such poor reviews lately. I was happy to see it fairly busy despite that. We went for breakfast mid-morning on a Sunday. The service was awesome, the food was great, the coffee was great. I have always loved this place.

We have frequented the Trolley House off and on over the last 3 years. We used to love going for a bike ride and stopping there on our way home for brunch on Sundays. We fell out of this habit and hadn't been for awhile. About 6 months ago, we decided to go there. The food and service were subpar. They seemed short staffed and as people who have/still do work in the service industry, we understand how stressful it can be and are usually happy to wait. After that experience, we vowed that we would not go back for awhile and try out some other places. When we decided to go to brunch this morning, we thought we would give Trolley House another shot, thinking maybe the last time we went they were just having a rough go. We decided to sit outside and were promptly greeted with menus. The server asked us what we wanted to drink and we ordered two coffees and two waters. It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks and the coffee was not hot. He did take our order at that point and shared with us that it was only his fourth day. We assured him that was not an issue and we totally get it. He had to double check the menu to make sure he got everything down that we had ordered with correct sides. I ordered the half order of the ham Benedict with hash browns, and my boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash with over easy eggs and white toast. We waited about 45 minutes for our food and watched as food slowly started coming out to those around us. During that time we had finished our coffee and were hoping to get a refill. Another server (who has worked there for a very long time as we always see her there) did a lap around the patio refilling coffee and asked every table except for ours if they wanted a refill. This happened twice, it was almost like we were invisible. More people started rolling in as they would on a Sunday for brunch. I overheard a server say to them that they would be happy to seat them and serve them drinks but the kitchen was backed up and they wouldn't be putting any more food orders for another 20 minutes or so when they could get caught up. Again, I totally understand that places are short staffed and it can be challenging when you get busy. However, it would have been nice for our server to let us know that they did not forget us but that the kitchen was backed up and our food would be coming (and then refill our coffee) while we waited. Our food finally came out and it did not look very appealing. My eggs Benedict was sloppy and lukewarm. The corned beef hash was another story. The over easy egg was over cooked and looked like what I could make at home. Instead of hash, they used cut up French fries that tasted like they were leftover from the day before. There was something off about the corned beef. It did not taste like corned beef at all and was extremely dry. My boyfriend likes sauces on his food so he ordered gravy on the side. The gravy did come out with his food but it was immediately alarming. It was a darker brown color and you could see a pool of grease sitting on the top. It tasted like they used ground beef and a lot of pepper in it and that was it. Overall, we were extremely disappointed in the entire experience and really didn't feel like we wanted to pay for the corned beef hash and gravy at all as it honestly was inedible. I wish I would I have taken photos to share on here. The waiter did not say anything about the quality of the food or ask us if it tasted okay. There is also a chance he didn't know that something was off as it was one of his first days. I do not blame our server as he seems like he is still learning the ropes and this may be his first serving job. But I was extremely dissatisfied with the food and the respect of the other servers in the restaurant. I debated writing this review because I know this is a family owned restaurant that really seems to be struggling, but I think we will not be returning ever again after this experience. I hope this review allows the kitchen to take a look at what they are serving before they send it out and maybe step up on t

Will never go there again! Our pancake was doughy and we asked them to remake it. They said they would. Then we found a hair in the whipped cream. We were going to look passed it when we found a 2nd hair. Again, we had asked them to remake the French toast since we had covered it in the hairy whipped cream. We got an eye roll and a huge sigh. So I told them never mind, we'd just cancel that. Over 10 minutes later the pancake came out and again it was not cooked all the way. The waitress never did apologize. We never got our drinks refilled either. I have never eaten out and not left a tip until now. Unfortunately the food and service has gone downhill in the last 7 years. They definitely will not get money from us again.

On August 18, 2022, my wife and I visited the Trolley House for breakfast. We have been there many times and had no problems. During this visit, my wife asked for gravy on her eggs benedict. The waitress told us not today. The cook had burned up the gravy. I ordered french toast. What I got was tasteless and the toast was dried out. I ordered veggie sausage. It was overcooked and very difficult to cut. My wife had eggs benedict and the egg was undercooked. It was runny and undercooked the way it was presented to her. The restaurant was empty when we arrived this should have told us something we should have walked out. The entire time we were waiting and eating our meal we listened to the cook's (young man) very loud conversations on his phone. He said he had a tough time the night before. It was very distracting trying to eat and listening to this young man talking and laughing. Whoever owns this restaurant needs to get involved and realize he or she won't be in business for long with this type of service from his employees.
