Huston Vineyards Winery • $$

“I was actually looking for one of the other wineries on the Idaho wine trail. Getting frustrated I decided to stop at Huston and am very glad that I did. 10 years ago my family relocated from the Monterey Bay area to Michigan and we have had a very hard time finding wineries that met out tastes of wine. My son invited me along on his road trip to Idaho. I left him there and ventured on to Sutherlin, Oregon to visit family and tour some wineries. My goal was to find not only great tasting wines but also varieties that I have not had and could not buy at a Total Wine store. I found 3 wines in Oregon that I wanted to bring home. I traveled back to Idaho and had a few hours until my travel companion would be ready. I decided to look for wineries. Huston had some amazing wines. The server was awesome - he gave great descriptions of the wines and told a wonderful story about the Chicken Dinner name. I came home with 6 bottles of wine and when in this area will definitely visit again. Thank you for being out there and showing me some new wines! Cheers!!“

“Fantastic Winery. Best wine I've EVER had in Idaho. The port style desert wine blew me away, the Sangiovese was literally amazing, best new world I've ever had. The service was also spectacular with 2 great wine hosts who walked us through everything. All in all this will be the Winery I'll be coming back to every time I visit Idaho.“

Hat Ranch Winery Winery • $$
15343 Plum Road, Caldwell

“A country winery in the snake river basin with a cozy tasting room and an beautiful outdoor view to appreciate in warmer times.

We did the tasting and they did a good job in providing a varying selection of white, reds, and red mixed wines to get a feel for their brand. Personally, I really enjoyed the Moscato, Rose, and Malbec enough to buy some. I'm no wine aficionado, but I do appreciate tannins more on the mellow side and am happy they have some wines that have that quality.

Also, they are open every day. I wouldn't normally point that out but we noticed another winery on the way there that is closed on weekends..“

“This is the oldest winery in the treasure valley and their wide array of beers make it our stop when ever we go there. They have small bites to eat and it is all good. The view down the second fool is a stunning view of the hills and grape vines.“

Bitner Vineyards Wineries •
16645 Plum Rd, Caldwell

“Best small vineyard I've ever been to. The Bitner family make you feel so special. The wines, and we have savored quite a few there, are so unique. Hard to describe overall, but some of the reds were complex with layered taste surprises from dried cherry to dark tobacco. The longer the bottles were open, the more the flavors opened upI think they call the slow process of flavor development rosebud as the wine aerated. We lingered on the patio for 3 hours, savoring the incredible.view of the valley, vineyards, and Owyhees. They provide wine lovers with the full, happy experience of great wine, great friends, and great surroundings.“

Free Dog Wines Winery •
15593 Sunny Slope Rd, Caldwell

“While dining at Peaceful Valley Farm, we met Anna and Brenda, both diners and worked at Free Dog Wines. They recommended a visit there so we did. We were met by Rueben and later Autumn, too great hosts. We purchased 3 different wines and then I returned today to purchased 3 bottles of bourbon barrel Merlot 2020. This in my opinion was the best of all their wines. Will be ordering again soon.“
