Do not stay here!! THEY STEAL AND LIE!! Reserved a room for 1 night as our friends were camping near by. Check in was great, confirmed our stay and paid with a very nice gentleman. We were told we would be able to check in at 2pm but when we arrived at 2pm, we could not check in because the gal who was supposed to be cleaning it, was late to work. No big deal. We went to the camp sight and came back a few hours later for the keys. About 2-3 weeks after, I get a $60 charge on my credit card from them. I call to see why and the girl didn’t know why. First she tells me we “stole their fly swatter” -there was NO fly swatter in the room when we checked in. Then she says it’s because we lost a towel of theirs. Then she says it’s because I reserved for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 night so that charge was for the no cancellations fee. I never booked for 2 nights it was always 1 night and if I did book for 2 night, we would have confirmed or had an issue when I checked in because they would have wanted to charge me for 2 nights. You confirm your reservation when you check in, which we did and was for 1 night and the gentleman charged me for 1 night. This is so unprofessional and literally THEFT. I’d love to speak with the owners but the girl I spoke with over the phone, (who was also the one who couldn’t show up for her job on time) was so incredibly rude and yelled at me and couldn’t understand why I would be pissed about a charge 2 weeks after for things that are 100% not my fault and their fault. the gentleman should have charged me for 2 nights and tried to book me for 2 nights if my reservation was for 2 nights, but it never was. & the fact that they felt comfortable charging my credit card WEEKS after we stayed and giving me no call at all, nor a straight answer for the charge is not okay. Previously to this experience, I supported and loved this little store. I’m actually disgusted with the girl they have working there and the way the owners would allow their employee to treat their guest who did no wrong doing other than confirm a reservation at checkin with THEIR STAFF.

I’ve been staying here for years now. It’s usually a great experience. Cute cafe and cute little store. Went up for a birthday weekend and scheduled a room for a Saturday. Decided last minute to see if they had an opening for Friday night as well. They did not which was understandable since it was a weekend and a last minute request. I was told we could check in Saturday at 1. Got there at one and the gal who was supposed to clean showed up to work late and didn’t start cleaning our room until then. The guy who checked us in didn’t really know what was going on or why we were waiting for ever Which again… was fine we just went fishing and waited. Got back, got the keys, was told there is a leather fly swatter in the room please don’t take it. NEVER saw the fly swatter didn’t think anything of it. Went to pee, there was poop stains and dirty toilet paper in the toilet. Didn’t say anything cause we were only using the room to sleep in as our friends were up the road at woodhead. They have very nice and clean restrooms. Stayed the night and left early cause someone was sick. Weeks later we see there is an extra charge for $60 bucks. So we called to see why. One lady then told us the extra charge was for taking the fly swatter. Then they said a towel was missing. THEN they said for a cancelation fee because we were scheduled 2 nights. They keep their reservations in a calendar on the desk and we clearly saw our name down for one night and the man checking us in only discussed the one night so that is what we payed for when we were there. Why would we have not paid for the second night when we paid when we got there? They don’t really seem to know why they charged us extra stayed completely silent for a minute then said… yeah there’s nothing we can do. So called the bank to dispute it and they needed further clarification on what the charges were for. Called them back cause we were still confused on WHY we were being charged extra. The lady who answered was super irritated that I was asking and why I wanted to know why they charged me an extra 60 dollars 2 weeks after we were there. She said for damage and cancelation fee then hung up on us. I’m super disappointed and saddened that somewhere I love going and somewhere I’ve always made a point to buy from in support of a small town store, would react or treat us this way. Also spent over 100 bucks in hats and fishing gear this trip in this store. Never once was I rude on the phone, still don’t know where their fly swatter or towel are. Still don’t know what damage was done and the disrespectful attitude we got for simply wanting a clear answer is super frustrating and hurtful. Will never stay here again and will never refer my friends to stay.

Food was well portioned and full of flavor. Nice stop before we headed home after a weekend of camping. Great service and its always lovely sitting in a Cafe where the staff isn't afraid of small talk.

First of all it says no politics on the door as you enter. BUT guess what's on their TV. A political station that you have to listen to through your entire meal! Its sooo annoying. Plus the food isn't very good. Except the milkshakes. Don't bother to stop if you want to relax and enjoy a conversation with friends because you can't with politics blaring ay you.
