Just went in, they had mostbof the tables inside were empty. They brought us water right away, but then couldn't get service at all - no menus, no acknowledgement at all. We left after 15 minutes and went elsewhere. Very strange, as there were 4 or 5 staff members hanging out, but would avoid eye contact and look the other way when I tried to flag them over. Very disappointing!

Fun bike themed bar/restaurant. Lovely wait staff, half off pizzas on Monday. Simple menu but well executed.

A little over priced. Food was average. Had a good patio.

When you stay at the CDA Resort, it is easy to get stuck in the Hagadone Bubble. Taphouse Unchained is part of that. And, to be fair, it is a fair enough spot when you want to leave the resort . . . but not really leave the resort.

If my memory serves me correctly, this place actually started out inside the resort, when it was the townie bar in the lobby. That stopped making sense, so the townies were moved to the nondescript mall that the Hagadone Corporation also owns. Then that was upgraded/smoothed over and became Unchained (think: Tito’s used to be Tito Macaroni’s until that sounded a bit too downscale for the resort).

This place seems like a light-hearted bicycle take on the Iron Horse down the street. Less authentic. Less local. More welcoming for those who are shopping for touristy trinkets and boats that cost just south of 200K (it is a mall, owned by a resort, in a town that has gone upscale). The theme comes off as an attempt to be authentic and whimsical that only partially lands. Bar stools with pedals? Oh, I get it!

Good selection of beers. Boat chips (basically, house made kettle chips) are nicely prepared, with a generous serving and a tasty cheese sauce (that is somewhat shockingly served cold when it seems like it should be hot but still tastes good). The garlic fries are just okay. Salads are large and filling. Miss the cheese curds. Service can range from awesome to odd (and they don’t seem to have a good handle on staffing). One day, our server was slammed and served us with a smile and great stories. Another day, the other server seemed distracted and was more interested in sweeping than serving us . . . and we were one of only two tables in the place?!?! And you get those clunky CDA Resort electronic menus, something that must have seemed like a great idea a few years ago. Now, they are a touch janky and make you feel like you are surfing the web in the 90s.

I think some of the negative reviews are fair, in that it seems like you are playing a guessing game regarding who waits on you. I also think some of them are also fair in suggesting that there are other local places that do this type of ‘thing’ and do it more authentically . . . because they aren’t part of the Hagadone Bubble. But I also think that their beer options are good, the food we tried was fine for what it was, and it is a close walk to the resort.

Is 3.9 or lower a fair average rating? Yes, I think it is. But this place could be rated a lot higher if it felt like they were trying just a bit more and doing what they were doing more consistently.

Again, Courtney, no need to reply. You do a good job.

I'm only writing this to save other people from the same experience. I don't like to be negative but this was rough. I'll leave it at... just don't. There's so many amazing places all around, this one is just... bad and they do not seem to care in the least or want to make it better.

After reading the negative reviews online, we almost didn't try out this restaurant. However, I am glad we gave it a shot. The atmosphere was pleasant, the retro bike decor was charming, and the food excellent.

Most importantly, in light of all the reviews highlighting the awful customer service, our server Ellie did a fantastic job of taking care of us. She was pleasant, attentive, and efficient. We would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a casual dinner and a fun drink selection.

It is our understanding that Unchained's food is cooked in Tito's kitchen. The pasta came out with negligible sauce, and our server messed up the order. We have ordered food from both Unchained and Tito's (to go) in the past and it was better. It was not as busy as our past experiences, but the quality of all menu items has declined from past experiences. We will be trying other non-resort restaurants if we return.

Great location being able to people watch on Sherman Ave or watch a game on the multiple screens inside.

Parking: You can park at the resort for free with validation.

My wife and I had a great experience here. We ordered the chicken pizza which was delicious, and I was happy to have blended my onw HuckMargherita by riding the bike. New experience, and was proud of the blend (that I did.) And I also found out how out of shape i am. The waitresses were awesome, and they really showed lots of love for our Corgi pup. I would definitely recommend, and go back. Thank you for a wonderful time.
