I loved this place!

We ate in the lounge because the restaurant was busy. I was very surprised to see a lady with 3 children in the lounge.

We went to the restaurant side. The Staff was friendly and I do appreciate that. But the food was pretty basic and the ambiance is just strange to me. Quiet and Dark with 2008 feel decor. Probably won’t be back for that reason. I like to have good vibes all around when I’m paying to eat out and there’s too many options out there to not love it completely.

Service Dog Friendly, very great atmosphere with pleasant blues type music. I was seated right away and the service was excellent. Captain’s rum with a view drink tasted great. I also ordered the Shrimp Linguini Scampi: Spanish Style Scampi with Green Onions and Crushed Red Pepper and it was the best I have ever tasted. Then to finish off got the chocolate cake. Highly recommend this place!

Went here growing up as a kid. I still love it to this day. So many good healthy options for vegans and gluten free meals for all. The food and drink is delicious and I love how everyone ends up feeling included at this location. The atmosphere is great and the patio is excellent. Really great place and honestly my favorite restaurant in the Boise area. I recommend going here if you are gluten free or even if you just want a good meal. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Great experience every time. The waitress was on point, food delicious and the atmosphere is perfect for having conversations.

Update 2025: still over priced for what you get. I'll try this restaurant again in another five years if they are still open.

Original review 2019: Over priced for what you get. Had the cesear salad, was told it was entre size but was really not. Plus the chicken added was plain chicken, not bad but rather taste less.

We go to play pool but they have 2 tables and unfortunately also have some league that plays there as well. So I would make sure to check that they aren’t playing the same time you would like to go and play. If there were more table it would tables that allowed costumers aswhell as the league that would be dope but probably not enough space to accommodate more tables.

Love this place every time I go the food is amazing the service and staff are super friendly and attentive

Nice booths, warm and comfortable, lovely employees. Food was good, fish dishes for two of us, chicken and salad for the other two. We all like going early to visit over cocktails, then having supper, getting back home early. Oak Barrel is a good local eatery and we're glad they are there!

A good place to go if you’re looking for some old fashioned food poisoning. Immediately after getting home it was on like donkey Kong and then a couple hours of recovering. Nothing quite like paying a few hundred bucks for mediocre food and then puke your guts out. Not to mention the staff was less than interested in service.
To respond to the owner: The wife and I shared the clams or oysters appetizer about 6 months ago. Only the two of us in the party got sick. I know it’s late to bring up but when searching for a place to take family coming in, I came across your place and sorta reminded me of our visit.
Response: I looked at the menu to remind and it was the scallops we shared. I do appreciate your concern and do agree, we should have notified immediately. Not in a snarky review six months later.
