I came here to have tea and study, it's a very nice environment. I went on a Sunday so it wasn't very busy, not sure how it would be on other days, but overall a very pleasant vibe. I am definitely going to come in the future as they are open pretty late and close to me. The server explained the menu to me well and helped me find what I would like. The tea was served in the most down to earth, quaint way and I'm just so glad this place exists. There are bike racks to park/lock up, but at night there is almost no street lighting until you get back on Chinden, so just a little warning. Thank you so much for the great experience, and many more to come!

Ben is The Man! He’s not just an expert in Kava, but is also a plethora of information on many natural, healthy, fun, alternative drinks. It’s so cool to have a place to hang out and get a little loose with your friends that’s not based around alcohol. He recently got me set up on Yerba Mate. After hearing about it on a lot of health podcasts I follow, and doing some research myself, I called all over town, and nobody seemed to deal with it much other than the individual cans at the gas station. Not only did Ben know what I was talking about but he had the “loose leaf” mate in house! He also had the gourd and bombilla set up to drink it properly. Yerba Mate might not be for everyone but Ben will find you something that will tickle your fancy for sure. Cheers!

Hard to tell about the real experience of Kava. It was very expensive but the staff was fun and informative. We saw they had a comedy night. It was very intimate but a wonderful experience. We will have to go back and try more kava ?

Many thanks goes to everyone working at Karuna Kava. The kavatenders go out of their way to make your time at the bar welcoming and inviting!?I was fortunate to be visiting Boise. Walking into the bar is like opening a present with your eyes. The ambiance slowly transports you far away to a distant campfire. The kava is potent and stimulating with three types and strengths on hand. The drinks are phenomenal. There’s always an event or performance scheduled for the week. What really opened me up to the community was the weekly kava circle hosted by the owner Ben. The kava circle has a way to bring everyone together. You owe it to yourself to make time to visit this destination kava bar.

Wow.. What an amazing experience! I walked in knowing nothing about the Kava experience. Ben had every detail we needed to enjoy this wonderful beverage. I left in better spirits, with a big smile on my face.

I was excited to find a place that wasn't all alcohol, all the time, so my husband and I went to check it out. It was a casual place, and the woman at the bar explained all there was to know about Kava, including that my taste expectations shouldn't be too high, as it's a very "earthy" flavor. I would say it's a bit more than earthy. It's strong-flavored, but the affects hit me within minutes!! My tongue went numb and a wave of relaxation washed over me....reminiscent of Xanax, lol. We had to wait it out a little bit before driving home, especially me...I felt very sleepy after drinking the whole cup. It's definitely very relaxing, but not a drink that you would crave. It's kind of something you have to do quickly to get to the relaxing part. Don't try and sip it...just drink it down and suck on the pineapple. That's the best way to do it. We bought four containers of the stuff to take home with us, because we thought it would help us sleep better at night, and it definitely is, but I wouldn't do it too close to bedtime or you'll have to wake up to pee. All in all, interesting experience, for sure. Before this, I had not known much about Kava, so it was definitely worth doing. Will likely be back!

Seems more hype than anything, tried some kava drinks but didn't feel anything as they claim you should but it was my first time there so this is my knee jerk reaction but I'm not done with Karuna kava yet, I'll give them another shot.
