Black Bear Diner Idaho Falls

We came in a large party at about 6 pm on a Friday night. Apparently a bunch of people didn't show up for work so our server was actually a kitchen staff. She did a great job despite having to wait tables, I think by herself, and 1 maybe 2 people in the kitchen. Our pancakes were burnt, one of our waffles was burnt, one of our French toast had large chunks of eggs in it and the chicken with the chicken and waffles was gross and cold. That's just our end of the table. The waitress was great especially due to the circumstances but with how short they were they should've just closed. My worst experience at a diner ever.

Parking: Very few spots by the entrance and all 2 of the handicapped spots were taken.

Portions are nice and large staff was friendly and the service was attentive i enjoyed the log cabin black bear theme and the food was delicious

Our server Tony, at Black Bear Diner was so cool. He had a good rapport with everyone there. He was bantering with the cooks in the kitchen and friendly with the customers. He was laughing and jovial the whole time that we were there. He squatted down to our level while taking our order, and shared with me, his favorite way to eat what I was ordering (he likes to add a sausage patty and sop up his over-medium eggs with the sourdough bread). When he delivered our food, he said to my 67 year old husband, "There you go young man!" You could just tell he was a happy person with a positive attitude and happy to be serving his customers. Also, he asked if it was “ok if he refilled” my half empty water cup, rather than just assuming and automatically filling it; I appreciated that he let me make that choice, it shows good manners. He’s probably the best waiter I've ever encountered! Thank you Tony! Also I really enjoyed my meal. I ordered The Breakfast Club. I replaced the bacon in the sandwich with sausage, and I replaced the side of potatoes with fruit. I was very happy with that, and I love when strawberries are included in a fruit dish! The sandwich was delicious! My husband ordered creamy grits instead of potatoes with his meal, and he thought in honor of Halloween they should call them “Screamy Grits”! Haha.

No greeting. Waitress was on phone, didn't offer refills, had to wait for her to come back inside to pay for our meals. BLT had 2 pieces of bacon on it. There was more tomato than bacon!! Chicken noodles soup had 2 pieces of chicken.
No manager visible. Disgrace to Black Bear Diner name.

This place is a joke. Ordered online through THEIR website. Took them forever to even talk to me then when they did they couldn’t find my order or tell me what happened FOR AN HOUR. They finally figured out they gave it to someone else. Wasted an hour waiting while they stumbled around and got no food. Will NEVER eat here again.
