Izumi Japanese Steak House & Lounge

I went for the first time last Thursday with a friend here in Idaho and a friend from out of state. The service was terrible. We each ordered a different meal and none of us enjoyed it. The food had no flavor. We were very disappointed. Maybe the Hibachi is better but now I will not go back. Very disappointed.

The food was amazing, per usual. Everything was certainly well cooked and the cooking experience was just a blast. The chef we had was wonderful. The waiter we had was great. Very attentive.
The reasoning for my poor review is that the HOSTS of this establishment have absolutely no clue what they’re doing and have no idea how to manage their guests and reservations. They don’t prioritize their reservations, EVEN WHEN YOU PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT. My group, and several others, were waiting long past our reservation times because they were seating their walk-ins first. One party even waited well over an hour while walk-in after walk-in got seated. About an hour past my groups reservation time is when they decided to stop taking walk-ins… they kept telling us “it’ll be a few more minutes” and then “15 minutes” and then “20 minutes.” Reservations are absolutely useless here because the hosts of this place don’t really care and will seat everyone else. They don’t try and set the table aside for you. They don’t try to ease the situation. It’s pretty much an “oh well” situation. Do better. Or stop taking reservations at all when you don’t even honor them.

18 percent gratituity for party over 6 and they counted a one year old that didn’t eat😠My granddaughters really wanted to go for the hibachi experience. 3 kids 2 adults and one baby. That’s just wrong. They said well we share the tip with the hibachi chef but didn’t tell us until after we had already tipped the hibachi chef. That is just poor service, very disappointing.

Food was ok, about average. After waiting 45 minutes after our reservation time. Finally seated. Got service 30 min later. Then they rushed us through. Food was just ok. Probably will try somewhere else next time. Had to pay $50 for a reservation to wait for 45 min, not impressed and did nothing to make it right

We had a reservation at 630. It is 720 and no table yet. So don’t count on eating on time.

We took our daughter for her birthday, we had so much fun... we laughed and laughed. Our chef was awesome, as well as our server. Fun atmosphere. The food was delicious as well. Especially the yum yum sauce on the rice🤌

Lunch specials are amazing! Great presentation of their food and very delicious. Service could be a little better, but overall the experience was memorable. Only suggestion I'd like to offer is the music. I think instrumenttal Asian music would make for a better atmosphere than the rock station you had on.

Say next to a ex co worker ordered double rice and didn’t get no where near the amount . The ex worker that we sat next to got more food than I have ever seen served here. I come once a week and have never been treated like this .

Had a chance to sit down and eat with my family as I visited them and was my first time experiencing hibachi but our lovely waitress Izzy explained everything quite clearly and with a fastidious attitude that she was able to get our orders while entertaining our questions simultaneously. Having such a pretty and polite waitress helps us out added so much to the overall experience. The grilled food was great the quality of the sashimi and sushi was good the show was a shock as it was my first time but what really helped was how our pretty waitress came around being very attentive to our needs! Only problem was with maybe the management seeing how they treated such a delicate and young waitress dragging her to the side and yelling at her but overall other than having to witness rude superiors I’d recommend everyone to try having a taste of Izumi!

This was a birthday dinner with 9 people. Our waiter was amazing, and even sang for the birthday ladies.. We will return again

Cole and Preston had great customer service, BUT THE SUSHI WAS OFF THE HOOK AMAZING!!!! My new favorite sushi joint. Period!
