Always good and consistent food! Great portions for the price, even on take out!

Worst service in this area. I called and requested specific items (3 2 item specials, 1 3 item special and a side egg rolls) and they showed up with 2 2 item specials. The lady began raising her voice at me telling me she confirmed my order (I know what I said on the phone, I had family behind me and would've corrected me if I was wrong).

They also have a $10 delivery fee now? Even though their website says $3.

Scam of a company, find somewhere else to get your take out chinese. Even Panda express is better than this.

A hole in the wall kind of place. When I choose foreign eatery, I like to be transported to their world. Walking in, you get blasted by their door ringer which is on the door and not in the depths of the kitchen, assaulting customers as they come in.
The fish tank, had but one lonely fish and while decorative, their counter could use a tapestry to hide their storage area behind it. . There was no cultural transportation, just a menu with no mentioned tofu options, and American pop radio in the background.
I asked for a tofu dish and the smiling waitress was happy to accommodate, but when it came, there was nothing special about it. I had to ask for chilli sauce for something to interest me in the food.
I had to go to the counter to pay, and a vegetable tofu lunch was $16! Way too much for the offering.
I'd skip, and try somewhere else.

Horrible service not receiving what you ordered being accused of going over the order and things not being added on as you add them there is no itemize list there has never been one time that we have ordered from here that we are not missing one or two items or something not being up to your standard. Would not
Recommended this place at all. Waste of money for sure and time

Idk when this happened, but if you live 13 minutes away, the delivery fee is $15, so beware! Never used to be this high. Online says delivery is $3 and up. It would be nice to know exactly how much it is before we get the receipt to sign when the food is delivered.

Place is filthy. The food is actually decent but terrible service. There was a discrepancy on my bill and the owner was extremely rude and dismissive when I asked her about it. She started arguing loudly and making a scene in front of other customers. Made the whole experience extremely uncomfortable. Never again.

Beware, this restaurant takes advantage of people! This is a review purely about customer service and principal. My husband ordered hot tea and the waitress brought out 3 cups. 1 for my husband, 1 for me and 1 for my 4 yr old daughter. My 6 month old baby was also with us. We shared a combination dinner all 3 of us (my baby doesn't eat food yet). The waitress questioned the amount of food, and wanted to make sure we knew that it was small portions. We were not very hungry, so that was alright with us. When we got the bill, expecting $11.90 for the meal and whatever the tea would cost (it's not on the menu, iced tea is $2.50). We were charged $12 for the tea and our tax. When questioned about this, the Chinese owner came out and maintained that it was $3 per cup although the pot is 1 tea bag and we got no refills. They insisted that we pay and leave and there was nothing going to change her mind. We mentioned that we've eaten there many times and that this doesn't begin to make sense when my 4 yo barely had about a 10mL taste in her cup and by her having that amount it didn't cost them anything more or by my cup. But this biggest point here is, my husband ordered the tea and the waitress was the one who brought us the cups without asking! This is sickening!!!

I've been coming to Joy Garden for a couple months, I've practically become a regular. I've recently decided to no longer go because of the frustrating experiences. I would write it off as minor issues, but when there is always a minor issue, it becomes a major issue. The service takes away from me enjoying the restaurant. This isn't a slander on the food because i do quite enjoy it, but when i have to constantly wait just to get my drink order, the flaws start coming up.
I sit down for 5-10 minutes, i tell them my drink order, i wait another 5-10 minutes for the drink to arrive (which is just water btw) and it's a constant cycle of this unnecessary time wasted. At a minimum, I would be there for an hour just from ordering their lunch specials. My water would never get refilled either. They're not good with managing time.
A few other quick remarks is that i almost got charged more while i was eating during lunch time. I arrived at 2:40, their lunch is over at 3, and as i was about to pay, i almost got charged their dinner price which luckily they changed back to lunch price (rightfully so).
I've gotten takeout during lunch, and i was upcharged more than when i would dine-in. Their website didn't state an upcharge when picking up an order, but delivering i know they upcharge.
One final thing that i felt was unnecessary is that if you order from their lunch special and you pick 2 of the same items, you will get an upcharge. Apparently, you must order different items in order to get the full benefits of the lunch price. My order, for example, was 2 spicy orange chicken and lo mein, i got charged more for having 2 orange chicken. They told me if i would have ordered pork instead, i would've gotten the original price. They got me with the "read the fine print" method, which i felt was a low blow.
So long story short, food good, service frustrating ?‍?.
