The inside is tired and run down. The food was passable at best. I got the much lauded egg rolls. First let me say that they are HUGE and unnecessarily so. They are also dipped and coated in a strange batter prior to deep frying which gives it an odd texture. The filling collapses and you are left with a half filled shell that is has grey unappealing filling and a soggy interior. I also got the spicy orange chicken. The chicken appears to be the same that they use for many dishes. It is cut up pieces of fried chicken thighs that has had a gloopy orange sauce just spooned over it.

Overall a very disappointing experience that I would not recommend.

The food and service at Joy Garden are absolutely five stars! Everything is always fresh, flavorful, and served by a friendly, kind staff. The dining area could use a little sprucing up, but the amazing food and warm service make it easy to overlook when you’re dining in. Highly recommend!

We placed five take out orders. The order was ready and accurate. Reasonable price.
However the food was nothing special, just so so.
I ordered fried shrimp and received three highly breaded small shrimp pieces. Felt like I was eating a rice only meal.

Wow! WORST service we have ever had at any restaurant. The food was actually delicious but the server was so terrible that it pains me to call her a server or waitress. We had no silverware, not once did she return to check on us. We had to go find her at the counter for plates for us. We had no water or anything except 1 serving of tea. We needed boxes at the end and we had to go to the counter and call for her to get us some. It’s a shame that such good food was overshadowed by such a terrible, rude person. Again I can’t even refer to her as a server or waitress definitely not a host. She was annoyed by our presence and made our meal uncomfortable . If you hate your job then quit . Also she didn’t clean the left over plates from the other family that left. And they too had to go find her to get their check and a box for leftovers .

I don’t get chicken fried rice from anywhere else. This is my favorite by far plus the price is really good for the amount you get this is yes on the chicken fried rice. I have not tried anything else so my review was only on that.

Waited about 3 hours for them to deliver food on mother's day. On a normal non holiday ish day the wait is about an hour and a half. After what happened on mother's day we won't be ordering anything from them again. Food was cold too.. very disappointed.

Our recent visit for lunch was a disaster. We came in and were not greeted. Nor were we seated. There was only one person who worked there that was visible, and she was up front on the phone. After sitting there waiting for water and menus for 20 minutes, I walked up and asked if we could have water and menus. She eventually brought menus, then after finding her again, she finally brought water. The food was OK, but not great. We used to frequent Joy Garden occasionally when we lived just a few miles away. But that was 8 years ago, when dining there was a lot better experience. I HOPE THIS WAS JUST A VERY BAD DAY, and not reflective of how things are here all the time. I need to mention, on a Friday in Boise, it was bizarre to find that my friend and I were the ONLY customers in the restaurant.

The pork fried rice and fried shrimp was delicious! The rice had a smokey flavor and the pork was sweet, and the fried shrimp had crispy breading and cooked perfectly. 💖🥢🥡💖
