We stopped at Sandpipers in Pocatello this week and ate one of the best meals we have had in a long time. The freshness of the food, the great preparation by the cook(s), and the service we received from Halli was top-notch. We will definitely be back!

Pan Fried Oysters. Never been to Sandpipers but want to try their fried oysters. My favorite. Hoped it was connected with a delivery service. Can't get out on my own.

I ordered Shrimp and Lobster Fettuccine, I was searching for the meat. I do not recommend for a weak stomach. I order Fettuccine because it is normally easy on the tummy.Over spiced. I ate a few shrimp and it was more then I could take, spicy, I do have a sensitive stomach but I started burning right after I ate them. My husband had Steak and Lobster tail, he said it was ok. I ordered the White Chocolate Banana cream pie, that is awful, the crust was discussing. I'm a baker I couldn't believe this is sold to customers. On a good note the Brie and roasted Garlic it out of this world, amazing, couldnt stop eating it. For the food quality , prices are set alittle high. Disappointing.

My husband and I decided to try sandpiper for the very first time. portions where small, food was mediocre and definitely over priced. Extremely disappointed considering how much we spent.

The escargot was horrid! The cheese was so cooked on the top, you couldnt even break it, much less eat it! Thought I was going to flip it across the room trying to get it out of the rock cheese!!That was our main reason for coming. They need to go back to the creamy sauce instead of rock cheese. The warm bread, oil, & Parmigian was ok but tasteless, maybe add some garlic so there is some taste to it.Was all out of Halibut which I was really wanting. The prime rib was fair in taste but tough. What a total disappointment! Would not recommend!

Birthday dinner and not a lot of fine dining options in Pocatello so we hit up Sandpiper. It’s been probably seven years since our last visit. TL;DR it is over priced for quality.Big Orange is the signature cocktail so we started with that while waiting for our table. It’s slightly sweet and strong, not bad at all.The weekend before Valentine’s Day with no reservations, we expected a little wait. We were told an hour and waited at the bar, it was closer to 30 minutes. Host and bartender were very nice and attentive. We arrived at around 630 and the place was packed. By the time we were finished around 830 they’re emptied out significantly. People eat early in Pocatello! We weren’t offered any explanation of dishes or specials, what they were out of, or market prices on seafood. So we had lots of questions when we were able to wave down our server as she ran past. I’m not sure if they are understaffed or just inexperienced. We’ve been in much larger, busier establishments with much less frazzled employees. You must request the bread service or you won’t get it. Apparently the oil served with the bread is olive, but it’s mostly a large pile of oily cheese on a plate. Bread is ok.We started with clam appetizer and they were decently flavored and slightly rubbery. These should come with bread. They do not. Just request it. We also both had the house salad. It’s a salad, nothing special. Canned shrimp I think, but I could be wrong.Entrees were the pork shank which we were told was not available initially but luckily our server corrected themselves. This was the definite highlight of the night. Large, juicy, and decently seasoned although the jalapeño mashed potatoes were bland. I got the New York steak and halibut combo with mashed potatoes. Steak was fine when I added salt. Halibut was 100% inedible. One bite sucked all the moisture out of my mouth as if I’d taken a bite of chalk. It resembled a hockey puck more than a piece of fish. This was unfortunate because the flavor was good but the execution was absolutely awful. Told the server and she apologized but offered no resolution. “Sorry your expensive birthday dinner tastes microwaved. Here’s your bill” ?We opted out of dessert.

Always a great place for dinner when in town! Great steaks, pasta and my favorite appetizer is the bacon wrapped scallops.
