A nice get away, but the maintenance in winter was absolutely terrible. Cars getting stuck, unavoidable knee deep puddles, not a dam road was plowed to at least convince the resort. The cabins looked as if the snow was gonna cave in, the roofs were bowing. Kinda scary, hopefully the staff can find a way to Improve. Probably won't waste money there a 2nd time sadly.
Rooms: Worn, but cozy.
Nearby activities: Bring snow gear in winter
Safety: Winter time was sketchy, nothing plowed, not a welcoming area because of that.
Walkability: Crap due to nothing plowed

It was a great little spot to enjoy the lake. We stayed in a cabin which was definitely small and rustic but comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pits, the beach access and view, and the canoe rentals

Rooms: was charged $200+ a night for a room with a hide-a-bed (3 guests). The bed was in the middle of the “living area” and was so outdated. The mattress itself was about as thick as my finger and you couldn’t sit on the end without the mattress falling through the metal support bar. This by far was the largest complaint. Overall everything is fairly old and if you’re going to charge $200-$250 a night for a room with a “second bed” then it should be something you’re not forced to sleep diagonal on to avoid your feet falling through.
Service: attempted to purchase butter/sugar from gift shop at 7:30am to make breakfast as we forgot some items from the store but the lounge doesn’t even open until 8AM. No exceptions and bar doesn’t open until 10am. Not really an accommodating lake experience. Be ready to drive back into town if you forgot anything from your list.
Bar/Service: For the most part the service was great. We had one encounter with a gal behind the bar who acted as if she disliked her career choice. It’s unfortunate because I’d assume most people that go up there are taking a break from the norm and are in a relaxing mood. The last thing we were hoping for was a condescending server to attempt to ruin our families time/mood.
WiFi: non-existent. Even if you attempt to purchase the wifi offered, it doesn’t work.
Not our best lake resort experience. We’ve been around WA & ID and I think this one was a little more hyped up by word of mouth than actual experience from guests.

Just came for lunch. Food way over cooked and tiny portions. Easily the worst fish and chips we have ever had.

Amazing Place. Only visited during the winter (Beyond Beautiful). Would love to check it out during the summer.

A little pricey and chic. Good restaurant and service. Fun for all. Went again in off season, was a great deal and absolutely worth every $. Needed some "soul" food .. this place brought me relaxation and peace. Amazing bloodymarys with eggs Benedict was the winner this morning.

I used to love Hills and have came here many times. I rent their little boat they have to go out to the islands, and when I came to rent it last week they were initially hesitant to let me, but decided I could anyways. I first noticed the boat wouldn’t go as fast as it normally does, which isn’t very fast to begin with, and it felt like it was driving weird. On our way back it stopped running, and I called the resort to tell them that we were stuck. Instead of offering any trouble shooting, putting one of the boys that rented it to me on the phone to try to walk me through what to do, the only response I got from them was “We can’t do anything to help you”. I was stunned considering I had my dogs with me, and there were no oars, and the water was very choppy and splashing into the boat. We were just stuck and “nothing could be done”. They told me to call the sheriff. I asked them to send someone out to me because I wasn’t far away and they told me they couldn’t. it wasn’t until I got upset and adamant about something being done that they sent someone out on a speed boat to help us. They were soooo rude. I couldn’t believe it. They said the other boat was broken, and it seemed like this one was too. It probably shouldn’t have been rented to begin with and it seemed like they knew that, so then to say they couldn’t help us when it was broken down on the water was crazy. I’ll definitely be checking out the other resorts when I go back, which I heard were better anyways.
I’ve been coming to Priest lake my entire life, my family has always gone to Elkins for our big dinners. I can say Hills is the better restaurant by far.
The French onion soup is amazing. Perfectly balanced with sweet, savory and salty. The onions aren’t over cooked so they won’t turn into a mushy mess in your mouth. Would it be nice if the bread was toasted before they put it in the broth, sure but honestly the soup is perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
The gnocchi was so good I thought for sure they had an Italian grandma in the back just to make these perfect potato pillows. Gnocchi has always been a texture choice for me over pasta, I never really appreciated the flavor. But these tasted like potatoes, had a wonderfully chewy texture before melting into creamy mashed potatoes in your mouth. The Alfredo sauce is rich and creamy with out overwhelming the gnocchi and the chicken is seasoned beautifully with salt and pepper.
My favorite part hands down was the ravioli. Don’t let the elk scare you, it’s not gamey and all. I could have spent an hour savoring that dish. The ragu sauce hugs each ravioli and as you take your first bite the flavor starts to build and it keeps evolving, initially savory, then tangy, then finally a mild sweet finish before you realize it’s been almost two minutes and you can still taste the sauce.
I will never complain about a dinner at Elkins but from here on out Hills is my number 1 choice
I was actually quite disappointed with my Caesar Salad. Not only did the lettuce not taste good, there was barely any dressing, and to cut up the half cut lettuce made a mess everywhere. I should have gotten an after picture.
Went back 3 days later and their chicken tenders were great. The portion was incredible.
