Great food any time of day
It used to be a great place to eat. Good service, food and prices. We won't be back. I ordered the open face turkey sandwich. I got a plate full of gravy to the point I couldn't eat much and the turkey looked like it had been grilled which made it dry and not good. The prices are expensive for what you get. An order of finger steaks with fries was $17.00 and to substitute onion rings instead of fries was an extra $2.00...this was for a basket with very little in it. Since the new owners took over, this place has bottomed out. It's sad to see this icon turning into high prices, bad food and not that great of service.

The all you can eat smorgasbord brings back great memories of this place. You couldn’t beat their prices or food back in the day. The Depot Grill is a legend that is still operating to this day. The food is always good and they are known making your dollar goes far. I recommend the Depot Grill.

Came through about a year ago and it was really good so when we came through again a few days ago we decided to come back. BIG mistake. Not sure what happened in the last year, but I would not recommend for dinner. Breakfast is probably fine as it is not that hard to mess up eggs and hashbrowns- but we were there for dinner.
Not a fault of the server as she was doing her best- appeared she was the only one there on a Saturday. It was the kitchen who was at fault. Not sure I would trust them to microwave water.
Group of 7 and 5 had Sirloin with some form of potato. a couple of the steaks had to be sent back- not a big deal. A couple of other should have but we chose to just deal with it.
2 of us had a backed potato with the steak- You would think in Idaho you could get a decent potato. My wife's potato had black in the middle- It happens no big deal but it took nearly 30 minutes to get the potato (and her steak) back from kitchen. My potato was raw in the middle- Sent it back only to get another raw potato- again sent back and just got fries. but by then I had already eaten my steak (or rather choked it down because it was dry, tough and no flavor) - by then was past time to be back on the road as we had a 3 hour drive again of us.
Those who didn't get the steak, 1 had a Lemon chicken and pasta, which she said pasta was okay but the lemon chicken seemed like it as soaked in lemon oil- way to strong of lemon to be enjoyable. The other one was a Shrimp Scampi which he said was okay but had way too much garlic. He likes garlic but it was way to much. He literally scrapped about 1/4 cup of chopped garlic off to the side.
The server felt bad but all she could do was offer us coupons. Coupons? really? We live 3+ hours away- like we would ever be going back to there.
As I mentioned, A year ago we had eaten here and it was really good which is why we actually drove out of our way on our way home to return here. As we left my family suggested that next time we find a nice place to eat that has really good food, it is probably an 1-off and lets not go back a it may ruin the memory.
I am sure some of their menu items are fine as long as they are basic -anyone-can-cook type of foods. but anything else should not be ordered.
We usually like the home-style dinners, but honestly, for poorly cooked, poorly seasoned or not seasoned at all type of a meal, Mcdonalds would be considered 5 star compared to this place and about 1/3 the price.-- and we can't stand McDonalds.

I ordered a salad and a BLT and couldn't eat either, because the lettuce was wilted and on the verge of rotting. Friendly staff, but ew..

The food isn't that great and if you order a soda and you want to take it to go you have to pay the price for an extra one

I've always had a soft spot for this place. Came here all the time when I was a kid and nothing a little bit has changed but in a good way still has amazing food and great service. I will always recommend coming here.

It's a rather unique old place to eat. It has been in business since 1917. The atmosphere and seating are worn and old, but the facility is clean. The Tater Tots and Fry Sauce are wonderful! The French Fries need improvement. They have the crunchy coating on them...ick. Crinkle Fries would be better than the fries with coating. I caught a glimpse of their homemade chips, and they looked pretty tasty and crisp. Their pricing was just right! Not to expensive. I will be back to try other menu items.

Friendly, affordable and charming with wonderful people serving you. Unfortunately the food just isn’t done in an interesting or flavorful way. Feel bad about this but it was mostly a letdown
