Ordered take out, I have dined there previously and it’s ‘ok’. However we ordered breakfast items and lunch. The hamburger was disappointing, the bottom bun was soaked in grease! The burger was not done correctly (ordered medium well; came out medium/rare). Couldn’t eat it!! Fries were soggy, it stated a salad was included and never got it. Bacon was done correctly, waffles were ok. There are much better dining choices in the area.

This place is now on our list of favorite breakfast spots.
Literally the Best biscuits and Gravy from a restaurant. Tasted like it was homemade . Very savory!
The French Toast was like warm bread pudding and was delicious 😋
The skillet and pancakes sooo good!
Our server was delightful as well!

I'm sorry but this pace has gone down hill it used to be good, but the portions are shrunk down to nothing, they have even gone as far to use smaller size eggs, the country fried steak is half the size it used to be and the corn beef hash portion is non existent. It also is not cheap to eat here the prices have gone up and your getting less food, so will have to eat else where, also the food just didn't taste that good is was tasteless

I was in the area visiting friendly. We tried an unsavory (well-known) breakfast restaurant the day before, so we tried to re-do it with a new spot. Buttered Toast is a cozy, chic bistro in the Algonquin/Crystal Lake area.

Our waitress’s was prompt, although she did disappear when we wanted our check. A simple flag down and someone else was able to help us. The food wasn’t bad either. My Dad got a Breakfast with 2 Eggs, Ham and Pancakes. He said it wasn’t anything remarkable, but wasn’t bad. I enjoyed my Chilaquiles but the chips were rather soggy. It was pretty filling.

Very limited coffee options. More staff is needed to have quicker service. We would come back if need-be.

Poor customer service or a purposefully trying to bring down this business???
I got the vibe that they didn't want our buisness as we stood there for a solid 5 minutes without any employees acknowledging our presence. My conclusion is that the employees purposefully turn buisness away by not attending customer. Owner beware- your employees might be sabotaging you.

We used to come here a lot, but had a few bad experiences. Today we thought we give it another try. Ordered the pumpkin pancakes (which used to be a favorite) but they came out dry and burnt. The server never returned to the table and we had to flag her down to get the check. She asked if I wanted a box for the untouched pancakes and I told her the issue. She just replied “Oh”
When paying expressed our disappointment to the manager, who said “Did you tell the server?” We told him she never checked on the table, and he simply dismissed us. I can see why their parking lot isn’t full anymore.

Food and service were both outstanding! I had the Chicago skillet which tasted like a Buono Italian Beef with all the good stuff mixed in, Eggs over easy and extra crispy hash browns. Our kid had had the Chicken and waffles with a side of pumpkin pancakes. My wife had some kind of protein bowl (I didn't taste it so cant comment but she seemed to like). Everything was cooked perfect. Definitely will be back, hope next time is just as good!

We have been coming here for years and the meal we had today was the best in a long time! There was a bit where the quality had dropped, but today they are back in force! I had the Chicago skillet and it was perfect. My wife had the Apple silver dollar pancakes that were cooked perfectly. We love coming here and appreciate the revitalization!
